larister··on My Struggle with Remix
These feel like fair criticisms, but the author doesn't note whether they raised these issues on the Remix github repo, or tried to fix them? It's great to identify areas for a framework to improve, but it's crucial that the team developing it are aware.
larister··on One model to learn them all
True in normal conditions, but our neocortex is highly adaptable. I can’t remember the studies, but there have been cases where a grid of actuators was taped to the body of a blind man and hooked up to a camera mounted on his head. In time, he was able to “see” edges based on the signals coming from his skin.
larister··on Show HN: A few years ago my Type'o'Shooter went viral – here's the new version
Agreed, was quite surprised not to see even a twitter icon at the score screen. Also 26?! Good job!
larister··on Support for older versions of Internet Explorer ends on January 12, 2016
I hope they _don't_ have a golden parachute
larister··on Goodbye Google plus photos
They're dismantling Google Plus. I know that's not the root cause for all the changes, but I think it's the major one and will result in significant upheaval until it's complete. I suspect that in a year or two, things will be a lot more settled and stable.
larister··on Thorax: An opinionated, battle-tested, Backbone and Handlebars framework
This looks really nice. Comprehensive, well-written tests as well. Do you integrated this with Hapi.js, just out of interest? Obviously they're both well designed to not be dependent on each other, I'm just trying to get an idea of Walmart's stack.
larister··on SublimeGit: Full-featured Git integration for Sublime Text
Looks like a great job, and good man for giving a shout out to the free alternative as well. As an existing user of Kemayo's plugin, what are the most compelling reasons for me to buy your version? An elevator pitch, if you will.
larister··on SublimeGit: Full-featured Git integration for Sublime Text
I used that for quite a while before I discovered Modific (https://github.com/gornostal/Modific). Similar functionality, except you can hit a shortcut and see what was on that line before the change - pretty useful stuff!
larister··on Vintageous: Vim emulation for Sublime Text 3
I'm very much hoping they allow find in Visual mode. I enabled Vintage mode in ST 2 a little while back and love it, but visual find would be very handy.

Edit: it does. Awesome.

larister··on Enough with the JavaScript already
Airbnb's Rendr seemed to be a nice solution to this problem

larister··on Show HN: Ember Table by Addepar
True, but perhaps more could be done to trim the fat. There are quite a lot of dependencies, and jQuery UI is quite a large library. Am on my phone so can't dig down to see how necessary it is but I'd hope the authors will be able to streamline the dependencies in the future
larister··on Realtime Three.js Coding
Brilliant. I wonder if it was inspired by Brett Victor's fantastic talk 'Inventing on Principle' (http://vimeo.com/36579366) - it seems there have been many such efforts to break the barrier between writing code and seeing the effects since that talk appeared. Maybe it's just that the talk made an impression on me and hence I've been noticing this sort of thing more. Either way, bravo Mr Doob.
larister··on Remove Google Search History Before New Privacy Policy Takes Effect
I was just about to and then realised that I had turned it off a while ago. The fact that I had completely forgotten it shows that I don't need this data.

However, it's also not something I'm hugely concerned about; as others have said the main danger is from some unscrupulous individual gaining access to your account. In terms of Google having access to my data, I would imagine my data will never be seen by human eyes. Having said that, one does need to remember the inherent permanence of data on the internet, as Facebook's timeline has shown sometimes your data can surface in unexpected ways.
