Good, this is an example of why we must not regulate AI development. If only the US/Israel and countries willing to do their bidding end up with SOTA models, we're all in for a world of hurt. The US government murders all kinds of people and they will most certainly not be slowing down their model development (with the very companies trying to do regulatory capture here). You won't have access to a model that could defend you, "they" (government and trillionaires) will keep you at bay by force. They would only be pausing for public models. There's no world that exists where the US government, Israel.. don't continue to push as hard and as fast as they can. If you do things that impact a large number of people, you should definitely feel the consequence of your actions. No one is forced into these positions, in fact they work very hard to acquire power over others. That should come with very real downsides.
