labarilem··on Ask HN: How would you tackle a text classification problem in 2023?
Let's say short posts which consist of title + body, ~100 words total. And classify them into 2 categories (e.g. posts that talk about cats vs posts that don't).
labarilem··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
https://marcolabarile.me
labarilem··on Ask HN: What do you use to track visitors on your blog?
https://counter.dev/

Don't need advanced use cases, not interested in monetization. Counter.dev got me because:

- it's simple

- respects users' privacy

- has a pay-what-you-want model

labarilem··on Ask HN: Should someone who just missed a flight that later crashed feel lucky?
I think there is no possible way to be sure of that.
labarilem··on Ask HN: How do you organize posts on personal website?
I was using tags and categories but recently I've switched to just chrono order to simplify things.

labarilem··on Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks?
Yes I do and I also use Pocket
labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
I can understand. I started to grasp the full potential of Postgres (but probably I'm still missing a lot) when I decided to use it for time series with the Timescale extension.
labarilem··on Ask HN: Do you promote your personal blog? How?
Usually I share new articles on Linkedin and sometimes post here. Then I link my posts to colleagues and friends when it can be of help.

labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
Cool! Was Postgres a crucial requirement of your job?
labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
So would you say there's still enough market for it?
labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
How would you call your role?

> And I encounter multiple companies where they should need a touch of a DBA

Agreed, I've seen several examples of this.

labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
I agree T-shaped professionals can have more impact than deeply specialized ones in certain contexts.
labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
Did you switch to a different career?
labarilem··on Ask HN: Postgres experts, how did you start your career?
Yeah I guess these days it's easier to setup a DB if you have a cloud env. Also most companies don't need (or want) their DB optimized by an expert. Why did you move to cloud architecture?
labarilem··on Ask HN: Any alternatives to Google Analytics that don't require cookies?
Cool although I'm trying to avoid self hosting for this task.
labarilem··on Ask HN: Any alternatives to Google Analytics that don't require cookies?
Thanks, missed the thread!
labarilem··on Ask HN: Any alternatives to Google Analytics that don't require cookies?
Love the simple design. Is there a way to have private data though?
labarilem··on Ask HN: Is there a good alternative for a local ChatGPT

labarilem··on Ask HN: Best resources to learn chess for beginners?
Any recommendations?
labarilem··on Ask HN: Best resources to learn chess for beginners?
Looks promising. Sure, let's play sometime. I'm sstoic on lichess.
labarilem··on Ask HN: How are you using ChatGPT to make your life better?
Currently experimenting with automatic flashcards generation (summarizing + creating questions and answers).
labarilem··on Ask HN: What tools do you use on your blog in 2023?
Jekyll to build and Github pages for hosting. Trying out Google Analytics but I'm not planning on monetizing content.
labarilem··on Ask HN: Do you have a smart system/method to track things in your life?
Yeah sorry maybe it was a bit confusing. I meant that Joplin allows me to have a "structured" personal diary by categorizing experience and knowledge of different areas into notebooks instead of a simple "What happened today" page, i.e. what happens in "less structured" personal diaries.
labarilem··on Ask HN: What will HN look like after the apocalypse?
I guess mostly DIY for survival and (un)dead startups looking for brains.
