My Vocaloid song recommendation: Ungray Days by the producer Tsumiki. Tsumiki creates a sharp, aggressive sound that is disagreeable at first but really addictive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvF3Mwj5d4E
This is an interesting area of study and I'm sure a different author would make a more persuasive case for/against this effect being real.
Am I missing something here, or is Kenji Yamamoto's paper completely fraudulent?
With ABS and ESC, most cars on the road today have a computer involved in the braking system. It seems pretty safe.
I make a point of watching a non-US film on every international flight I take - I find it to be a unique opportunity to watch interesting non-US movies with English subs. I have discovered two excellent oddball comedies from in flight movies (Die Goldfische from Germany and Le Grand Partage from France), but when I tried to rewatch these films with others in the US, I discovered it was basically impossible. There must be so many other great movies from around the world we are missing out on.
Even though Lenovo provides some firmware via fwupd, this particular trackpoint firmware was only available via a Windows utility, which sucked since I wiped Windows off the machine as soon as I got it. (I had to make a Windows live USB for the sole purpose of installing this update.)
The trackpoint still occasionally dies after waking up from sleep (but much less often since I installed the firmware update.) When this happens I have to run a shell script I set up to bring the trackpoint back.
So, I can't say the Linux experience with my laptop has been great. I'm guessing the device support for these new laptops with Linux preinstalled will be much better.
I'm just bewildered that Japan, which bungled the Diamond Princess response so badly, is packed with people in its largest cities, and is not under lockdown like some other countries, seems to be faring better in this crisis than other countries that have had a much stronger response to this virus. Is this a reason to doubt the effectiveness of lockdown measures that have caused severe economic pain in Europe and the US?
I think Baidu Maps places WHCDC in the same complex identified in that Daily Mail article, directly across the street from the Huanan Seafood Market. (I'm a bit uncertain because I don't read Chinese, so please let me know if I've made a mistake here.)
