kxra··on How Not to Support Desktop GNU+Linux, Zoom Edition
When I tried to resubmit the correct URL, it was stripped again. Does it work for you?
kxra··on How Not to Support Desktop GNU+Linux, Zoom Edition
Do we know why it was modified? I think hackernews stripped off the .md for some reason, but if you submit the URL with an anchor like https://write.as/hash.md#title that seems to preserve it
kxra··on How Not to Support Desktop GNU+Linux, Zoom Edition
Agreed. Write.as is open source, you can file a ticket against WriteFreely on github

The end of the URL got trimmed upon submition, so its pointing to the unrendered markdown URL for some reason. Here's the rendered page: https://write.as/n5r0vjolumdnuk2k.md#title

Any chance of getting Haskell on there?
kxra··on Recognizing an inspiring woman for Ada Lovelace Day: Haskell hacker Audrey Tang
She's just not cisgender; she's trans. That doesn't make her less of a woman.

Children are trans too. It happens every time a doctor coercively assigns a baby's gender and ends up being wrong.

Either way, women are women, and this one is an inspiration.

Hooray, transmisogyny (as mentioned in the article)! Maybe you should be more respectful to LGBTQ folks and not misgender them. You're like all the self-proclaimed Chelsea Manning "supporters".
kxra··on The W3C's plan for DRM in HTML5 is a betrayal for all web users
TL;DR:

# Myths

1. that DRM doesn’t work; that it exists to protect creators, but since it is easily cracked and can be worked around, it is largely ineffective and irrelevant

2. that DRM in HTML5 is a necessary compromise to finally bring an end to the proliferation of proprietary browser plugins such as Adobe Flash Player and Micrisoft Silverlight

3. that the web needs DRM in HTML5 in order for Hollywood and other media giants to finally start giving the Web priority over delivering media over traditional means

# Reality

1. DRM is not about protecting copyright. That is a straw man. DRM is about limiting the functionality of devices and selling features back in the form of services. (https://plus.google.com/107429617152575897589/posts/iPmatxBY...)

2. DRM in HTML5 doesn’t obviate proprietary browser plug-ins, it encourages them. (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/03/defend-open-web-keep-d...)

3. The Web doesn’t need big media; big media needs the Web. (http://blogs.computerworlduk.com/open-enterprise/2013/02/bbc...)
