kwyjobojoe··on Quantum astronomy could create telescopes hundreds of kilometers wide
Yeah would be nice after they had ruined ground based telescopes for the whole planet.
kwyjobojoe··on Neighbour manages to pollute the 2.4 ghz spectrum with his 120 IoT devices
If a neighbour asks you to turn off half your devices indefinitely so their network works better, what exactly are you supposed to do?
kwyjobojoe··on FTP is 50 years old
This could just be auto tested as the code would rarely change. It's like Firefox devel has a dartboard of unique and useful features to be randomly removed.
kwyjobojoe··on U.S. House committee approves blueprint for Big Tech crackdown
It's not really Firefox. They have to use the same engine as the Apple browser.
kwyjobojoe··on The latest DSM update makes btrfs drives unavailable on budget Synology models
Issue: drives become inaccessible on upgrade.

Issue closed: intended behaviour, won't fix.

I can't think of a worst act by a company that makes data storage devices than to intentionally and deliberately break data stored by their customers.

What a stupid and nasty action by a terrible company. They deserve to be sued into oblivion

kwyjobojoe··on Confessions of an Overnight Millionaire
The rich and powerful have no idea on the cost of living, and yet they control the world for the majority.

The Australian Gov floated making people pay for doctor visits that are currently free, and bagged out disagreement that it was 'only the price of a coffee'. Those on benefits cannot afford a coffee, as that would be almost 10% of money they had to per day to pay for everything. Meanwhile they use government flights costing $60000+, or give themselves raises more that a minimum wage earner gets per year.

Bill Gates was on a show and they made fun of him because he had no idea what bread and milk costs. Yet people like him are the ones that politicians listen to.

kwyjobojoe··on Whatever happened to IoT smoke alarms?
If your smoke alarm is faulty you should replace it. Unlike most hardware, faulty smoke alarms can directly lead to the death of yourself or family. It's the one form of tech that I 100% replace when any problems occur.

There is no situation where you should accept or ignore a faulty smoke alarm.

kwyjobojoe··on Lost 72 hours worth of research data to forced update
It's not exactly hard to prevent windows 10 from running updates. My security cam server has been running for years with updates only applying when I manually run them.

I do wish that Microsoft made it easier to prevent auto rebooting updates, but you can do it and it's pretty stupid to run a multi-day process without bothering to set up the system correctly and then bitch about it.
