kuschkufan··on I'm Done with Ubuntu
Why would you switch to Fedora 6? ..I kid, I kid ;)
kuschkufan··on Nokia's internal presentation after iPhone was launched
Looks like a competent analysis where they recognize the threat of the iPhone to Nokia. Whether the higher ups failed to act on it or whether they could not act on it, even after Microsoft bought them is unfortunately a different topic.
kuschkufan··on TSMC begins producing 4-nanometer chips in Arizona
Well, your guess is off the mark.
kuschkufan··on The number pi has an evil twin
here's a nickel, get a new browser.

no idea why i even go for bait like this. because i like doing unpaid support work i guess. i tested in firefox and chrome. both work fine and don't do it like op decribes - no keybinds, keys behave normal.

maybe one of the dudes from yesterdays thread that had his own chatgpt programmed browser extensions installed that break the web for him.

kuschkufan··on The case against Google's claims of "quantum supremacy"
that one dude that has tried since forever to convince that one city to allow him to dig up that garbage dump for his lost bitcoin wallet password should be able to get the coins without digging then.

oh and all other passwords/pass phrases/secrets might get broken too, if they're not yet based on quantum save algos.

kuschkufan··on GCHQ Christmas Challenge
the challenge is not to click that link
kuschkufan··on Training myself to run farther with Strava's API and an IoT dog feeder of M&Ms
"low key" tobacco industry sponsored content right there.
kuschkufan··on GIMP 3.0 is on the way
Guess what the "G" in GTK stands for historically
kuschkufan··on Jeff Bezos killed Washington Post endorsement of Kamala Harris
[flagged]
kuschkufan··on Satellite Imagery of Every Outdoor Basketball Court in the USA
The other comments are a let down so far. I find this impressive!
kuschkufan··on Show HN: Meet.hn – Meet the Hacker News community in your city
Have you seen https://loginwithhn.com/ ?

Seems to also fall into the category of services on top of HN, like this one and at.hn.

kuschkufan··on Window Maker: X11 window manager with the look and feel of the NeXTSTEP UI
I can tell you why I did back then. I saw screenshots of openbox/blackbox/fluxbox and wanted that instead.
kuschkufan··on Is oral history more durable than written history?
"click here to redeem you free article!"
kuschkufan··on Google is killing one of Chrome's biggest ad blockers
Call me when Firefox stops supporting manifest v2 and thus crippling ad blockers. Until then I use Firefox and will be very content doing so, recommending it to everyone who asks as well.
kuschkufan··on Climate change deniers make up nearly a quarter of US Congress
I feel like the number here on HN is higher.
kuschkufan··on Joe Biden stands down as Democratic candidate
Not a convincing argument, but a testament to low standards. Also, Whataboutism.
kuschkufan··on Perplexity AI is lying about their user agent
Call the fuzz
kuschkufan··on Betula – federated bookmarking software for the independent web
doesn't work for people that want them "federated"
kuschkufan··on Desktop Linux is an Untapped Gold Mine
lack of drivers, for what exactly? linux actually has tons of drivers for old like for new stuff.

on the other hand, i recently bought a new windows laptop and tried putting in a new bigger ssd and guess what; when trying to reinstall windows on that the setup program didn't even find that ssd. no, you had to get an extra driver from intel.com - embarrassing. linux comes with all drivers included.

kuschkufan··on SpaceX's fourth Starship launch approved for Thursday
it's 50/50
kuschkufan··on HN-text: an easy-to-use, text-first Hacker News terminal client
Would be nice to publish a docker image or have a nix flake to run this as an alternative to the binaries.
kuschkufan··on HN-text: an easy-to-use, text-first Hacker News terminal client
Maybe it was something like a Raspberry Pi that he placed at that cafe? Curious that his Bluetooth had more reach than the Wifi itself though. Maybe with a directional antenna. Agree, would be interesting to know his setup.
kuschkufan··on I sold TinyPilot, my first successful business
Congrats, you outed yourself as not having read the article. Because it's in there.
kuschkufan··on A fourteen-day free trial ain’t gonna cut it
OT, but your HTML is not valid. <!DOCTYPE> is declared twice.
kuschkufan··on Logitech mouse and keyboard users are getting a free AI upgrade
I can see it clearly. Just as a TV remote now has dedicated hardware buttons for Netflix, Disney, Amazon and so on, we will have a Logitech mouse with dedicated button for ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot!
kuschkufan··on Firefox Proton UI userChrome.css fixes. (2021)
In the beginning Firefox was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.
kuschkufan··on Multimillion-dollar L.A. heist was seamless, sophisticated, stealthy
Real-world moment from the "Heat" movie script.
kuschkufan··on Verified curl
Actually the fact that they do not have binary blobs in their repo immediately stops the xz attack.

Not saying attackers would fail with curl in general. Just repeating the exact method from xz is not possible.

kuschkufan··on GNU Stow needs a co-maintainer
Can recommend this setup as well, it's great.
kuschkufan··on Xz: A microcosm of the interactions in open source projects
Also the authors of these messages never interacted on that mailing list before or after. They only turned up to put pressure on the original maintainer.
