kstealth25··on Ask HN: Which are the most interesting books you have read in 2022?
I just finished "Carrie Soto Is Back" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It's about a professional tennis player who comes out of retirement to defend her record number of wins from a younger up and coming player. I loved that the protagonist was an unapologetically competitive woman who despite her tennis records still struggles to find meaning and love in her life - like the rest of us.
kstealth25··on Ask HN: Name 3-5 books that had the most impact on your career and knowledge?
1. The Millionaire Next Door - I read this as a kid and took away the importance of owning your own business and living below your means.

2. The Good Earth - Another book that I read as a kid that I think about often…specifically about the choices the family makes as their fortune rises and falls.

3. Running Lean: Iterate from Plan A to a Plan That Works - I like the 1 page canvas for capturing assumptions and the product & solution interviews.

More recently, I read Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. I wonder if the central message of this book (“you can’t do it all & how to embrace that”) will stick with me.

+1 for the Dragon Master series. Also we're currently reading the Ninja Kid series.
kstealth25··on Ask HN: Tech-savvy parents, what are the gadget rules for your kids?
6 & 4

Friday night is media night. The kids usually watch their dad play Legend of Zelda for an hour, and they decide what Link should do. After that, we watch 1 hour of a movie with each of us taking turns who picks the movie. Other than that, it's just occasional use of Facetime to talk to family or ask Siri to play a song.

I wasn't thrilled with how my then 5 year old handled her Kindergarten iPad last year. She had access to PBS Kids videos on her school iPad and would watch them when she was the least bit bored. We did decide that the iPad should only be used during school time. But now her iPad is at school, so we don't have that issue.

I'm interested in reading what other parents are doing. Even though we're in a hippy, educated community, our kids consume less media than their peers.

I've spoken with several companies that will be applying this year.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 1. Good point. I need to upload a few more samples, especially those that show better penmanship. 2. Awesome. I'll add this information to the FAQ page. 3. What price point would make sense to you? Interesting. I'm not familiar with compliment cards. I'll have to check those out.

Thanks so much for your feedback!

1. Interesting. Uploading a spreadsheet is the minimum viable product that we have up and working today. 2. Makes sense 3. Will definitely get to work on UX/general website improvements. Really appreciate the link. Sounds like $3 a note isn't the right price point for you?
