krunck··on 56k.rip – the 1996 dial-up internet experience
Sadly, the same amount of knowledge was conveyed by a 56k modem in a 5 second page load as a 1GBps instant web page load today.
krunck··on When did Google get so weird?
I want to know "the thing".

I want to know who's behind some presentation of their "the thing" as fact.

I want to know who's to benefit from their presenting "the thing" as fact.

AI or not, my needs are still the same and so have to go right to the sources and judge for myself.

krunck··on Has Violence Against Teachers Become Accepted by Society?
My wife is a college level teacher and she is continuously receiving disrespect and open challenges in her classroom. Fortunately it has not come to physical violence. But the environment created by a large number of students who have a bloated sense of entitlement is problematic. Feeling entitled all the time is a sure way to living a sad life divorced from reality.
krunck··on Ok Google: please publish your DKIM secret keys (2020)

krunck··on Israel weaponises AI for West Bank demolitions
And then bulldoze flat an entire property including previously existing structures because someone wanted a greenhouse so they could feed their family.

And who defines "illegal" in the West Bank? Certainly not Israel, because the West Bank IS NOT part of Israel. The West Bank is a sovereign territory of Palestine.

Incrementalist colonialism.

krunck··on Geothermal heat map of US hot springs
Missing all the hot springs in the Black Hills, South Dakota.
krunck··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
He did it to men too.

The argumentative method of rather than saying and doing what you believe and instead doing and saying what you are opposed to, is always weak and usually a great way to shoot yourself in the foot.

That being said. I agree 100% with making Meta Employees feel uncomfortable with their own products.

krunck··on Anthropic, OpenAI et al. face antitrust suit for agreeing to slow AI development
But that lets companies that aren't colluding to catch up technologically and maybe sell their services for a lower cost. How is that anti-competitive?
krunck··on Amazon blocks Meta’s new Muse AI agent from shopping on amazon.com
Nice. That would allow people to create alternative interfaces for humans (like me) who absolutely HATE Amazon's web interface.
krunck··on US Military had close call after using AI for hallucinated intelligence report
It used to be that the US tortured people until they said what the US needed to justify a war. Now the it uses LLMs: just keep chatting until it hallucinates what's needed.
krunck··on Second Circuit Allows Government to Search Electronic Devices at the Border
I can't find any definitive information on this. Disturbing if true.
krunck··on A warning about 'model welfare'
These humans without pain receptors can still suffer just as much as the rest of us.
krunck··on Backflip: Apple now wants to train AI models with user data after all

krunck··on Giving up on smart rings
I gave up on my Oura ring 6 months into use. The event that really convinced me their crap: I sat down at my desk at work, told Oura I'm starting a bike ride. One hour later it said my average HR was over 100. I have bradycardia so my heart rate never got over 60 for that hour. BS AI hallucinations.
krunck··on Lawyer cites fake witnesses in murder case and blames ChatGPT
That lawyer needs to be disbarred with prejudice.
krunck··on US confirms for first time it has deployed space weapons
The boom in private space companies all vying for USG cash was the initial indicator this was happening. The amount of mass sent to orbit so far for USRO and USSF has been huge. And it's not going to let up.

I expect "rods from god" to be used any time now.

krunck··on US confirms for first time it has deployed space weapons
And you think America cares about treaties?
krunck··on Iranian banks' SSL certificates are being revoked due to OFAC sanctions

krunck··on Adversarial Fashion Makes a Statement on AI Panopticon
These garments need to function in both visible and infrared environments as cameras use both. Otherwise these are not serious.
krunck··on Bad actors in China and Russia are weaponizing Anthropic's AI
AI is a weapon. Just because you can use it to create <you know what to insert here>, doesn't mean it's not a weapon. It was initially designed as a weapon and it's last use by humans will be as a weapon.

But I'll never be a target you say....

krunck··on The Superdark Factory
Why? What human needs are served by this?
krunck··on AI could kill all humans in next decade, warn experts

krunck··on Pixel Watch steps in if you stop breathing

krunck··on AI could kill all humans in next decade, warn experts
This is why we need portable and reusable(non-explosive type) EMP devices that can be manufactured and spread among the populace.
krunck··on AI could kill all humans in next decade, warn experts
Maybe, but AI will enable actions that were never before possible and that are an existential threat. Consider microbiology: automated viral/bacterial research. microbes could be created before humans have a chance to even consider the potential harm. Pandemics, food chain collapse, ecosystem collapse are all possible.
krunck··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
This needs people to open their TVs, determine the modifications needed to neuter the spy functionality, and publish the procedure.
krunck··on Europe's largest carbon capture facility opens in Netherlands
https://www.yara.com/sustainability/transforming-food-system...

The CO2 is captured, liquefied, and then injected 2600m under the North Sea seabed.

krunck··on Government-funded journalism can work if it's free to report the truth
What we have now is a government that tries to shut down all news outlets that are not comprised of journalists who approach the world from the viewpoint of Christian nationalism fundamentalism.

How is that any better? How is that democratic and pluralistic?

krunck··on The Post-AI Internet Doesn't Look Great
What really makes my internet use worthwhile is interest-based tight knit communities that also interact in meat-space. Members are vetted based on personhood (REAL personhood) , not points/likes/bullshit.
