krunck··on Adversarial Fashion Makes a Statement on AI Panopticon
These garments need to function in both visible and infrared environments as cameras use both. Otherwise these are not serious.
krunck··on Bad actors in China and Russia are weaponizing Anthropic's AI
AI is a weapon. Just because you can use it to create <you know what to insert here>, doesn't mean it's not a weapon. It was initially designed as a weapon and it's last use by humans will be as a weapon.

But I'll never be a target you say....

krunck··on The Superdark Factory
Why? What human needs are served by this?

Death occurs 4-6 minutes after breathing ceases. What's the typical paramedic response time?

krunck··on AI could kill all humans in next decade, warn experts
This is why we need portable and reusable(non-explosive type) EMP devices that can be manufactured and spread among the populace.
krunck··on AI could kill all humans in next decade, warn experts
Maybe, but AI will enable actions that were never before possible and that are an existential threat. Consider microbiology: automated viral/bacterial research. microbes could be created before humans have a chance to even consider the potential harm. Pandemics, food chain collapse, ecosystem collapse are all possible.
krunck··on LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby
This needs people to open their TVs, determine the modifications needed to neuter the spy functionality, and publish the procedure.
krunck··on Europe's largest carbon capture facility opens in Netherlands
https://www.yara.com/sustainability/transforming-food-system...

The CO2 is captured, liquefied, and then injected 2600m under the North Sea seabed.

krunck··on Government-funded journalism can work if it's free to report the truth
What we have now is a government that tries to shut down all news outlets that are not comprised of journalists who approach the world from the viewpoint of Christian nationalism fundamentalism.

How is that any better? How is that democratic and pluralistic?

krunck··on The Post-AI Internet Doesn't Look Great
What really makes my internet use worthwhile is interest-based tight knit communities that also interact in meat-space. Members are vetted based on personhood (REAL personhood) , not points/likes/bullshit.
krunck··on Play Store blocks AuroraStore, hurting GrapheneOS users
Working again.
krunck··on Google avoids a breakup of its ad tech business
> a great US institution

So, too big to fail, but to small to be a monopoly that abuses it's power?

krunck··on Can I opt out of my input or output data being used for training?
Very disappointing. I really get the sense that all AI companies and anti-privacy parasites on society.
krunck··on Play Store blocks AuroraStore, hurting GrapheneOS users
Yep broken on my /e/OS device too.
krunck··on Lawmakers added $1 to car insurance policies. That money paid for Flock cameras
Government uses the private sector to get around the constitution, the private sector uses government to get around regulation.

Working as it was designed to.

krunck··on Google Maps Showing 'Lake America' in U.S.
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." ~ Frank Wilhoit
krunck··on Autistici/Inventati case sets a new counterterrorism precedent, Irdi says
This is a crap article with lots of baseless assertions.

> Q: Why have we reached this point?

Their answer: Russia.

Uh no. How about American proto-fascism.

krunck··on The Website Obesity Crisis (2015)
A perennial problem.
krunck··on Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards
> Indeed, in our research at Google, we have found that....

I wish this was the first line, then I would have stopped reading right then and there.

krunck··on US Says CN Hackers Broke into Justice Department, NASA, Federal Reserve, Senate
I'll be honest here. When country A, run by people who are fanatically - almost violently - opposed to the political and economic system of country B, claims that country B is attacking it, I have to pause and doubt. That is not to say that country B is a powerless, victim. It is not. Given that the government of country A has a history of lying and using convenient yet poor quality intelligence to support it's agenda, I'm going to hold these claims, like all others from country A: with suspicion. Governments need to earn trust. Few deserve it though.
krunck··on Air Conditioning Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Necessity
Any discussion about AC and heatwaves needs to involve the use of web-bulb temperature(which is what the "heat index" comes from), not regular temperature.

krunck··on Air Conditioning Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Necessity
What kind of insulation does your home have?
krunck··on US sanctions Italian hosting provider Autistici Inventati
Being designated a "terrorist" by the USA means it can use ANY means to destroy you: overt violence, subversion, propaganda, and financial.

Not that the USA NEEDS to apply that designation to use those methods....

krunck··on AI Is a Harsh Mistress

krunck··on Meta reaches $17B settlement over social media harms to children
It is that amplification that is the problem. Everyone has a voice. But if one actor chooses which voices to amplify it is responsible for the results.

This episode will come to an end, only to be replaced by a more subtle - surely AI driven - form of amplification/attenuation.

Social media is manipulation. Period.

krunck··on Starbase, LA
I used to be interested in SpaceX development. Then I came to the realization that SpaceX is going to be used primarily for the militarization of space: hauling space based weaponry, weaponry drop ships, surveillance satellites, etc.

I still feel glad for the SpaceX engineers and scientists who succeed and doing new and innovative stuff. But their employer is just like every other military contractor sucking on the unlimited teets of the US Government. What a waste of taxpayer money.

I grew up in during the Cold War and I'm sick of this shit. America always thinking it has to dominate any country that doesn't bow down before it.

krunck··on Bomb fishing is wreaking havoc on Indonesia's coral reefs
> Otherwise how would people have cheap fish?

Fish farming?

krunck··on US data centers tripled annual water consumption to 17B gallons
Potable well water should NEVER be used for such purposes. Aquifers recharge at a rate far lower than industry wants to pull from them. At some point potable water for humans will run out. If you're using water just to evaporate it for cooling then use surface water.
