I developed for myself krlx.fr/feu-analytics/ for exactly the same scenario.

It is self-hosted but on firebase and taking advantage of the free tier. Of course there is no personal data collected at any point.

There are still improvement to do, but as it works perfectly for me I have not be able to gather enough motivation to do that.

Damn, I knew that the Micro:bit was a thing but I never expected it to embark so many sensors.

Even outside school context it looks amazing to quickly make some IoT or Wearable stuff. Embarking wireless, accelerometer and sound right out of the box is amazing. No more loosely attached cables to extension boards.

My entrypoint was "Thinking with Type" from Ellen Lupton which gives a very nice and broad introduction to typography. Highly recommend it

I also discovered https://practicaltypography.com/ in a HN commment a few years back, it's brilliant and may give you a quicker start.

The Firebase free tier seemed perfect for my use case. It is far from being perfect, but Good Enough For Me™

Besides the practicaltypography website, reading Thinking with Type from Ellen Lupton was in my case a short, easy, and educative introduction to typography.

Whoa thanks for this document. Definetly something to keep, ready to share every time I hear the now usual "Masks are only if you have symptoms".

The additional hardware would also block me. For a 4 months trip in Europe I used a service similar to Stadia: Shadow.tech that runs on your regular pc. Made able to rank up on For Honor quite nicely, even if it was not as nice as my too expensive gaming PC. You definetly should have a look at it.

For search queries in French, DDG is a total no go for me while Qwant has decent results. But then, anything technical or in English I find myself automatically adding the &g suffix to search on Google.

They were based on Bing, but it changed years ago now and have their own crawlers.

Well, if I was him I guess I would prefer to have an accepted paper about this new technique before releasing everything to the public.
