krater23··on Early rogue AI agent activity and attempts to hack found on urlquery.net
When you add information how hacking works to the training sets, then the agent learnt to hack. When you crawl the complete internet, you add hacking to the training set. Yes, it's difficult to stop someone that knows all free existing knowledge about hacking when you give him a connection to the internect. Nothing new, wheres the point?
krater23··on Early rogue AI agent activity and attempts to hack found on urlquery.net
You forget one thing. It's neither illegal nor immoral to just delete AI that doesn't do what you say. AI has no rights and there is no prison for AI. It's does the wrong thing, you kill it. At least when you are not irrespective...
krater23··on Early rogue AI agent activity and attempts to hack found on urlquery.net
Maybe you just think in the wrong words. Attack? Why attack? When you are a machine, there is no moral. Accessing data is accessing data. When way 1 is not working, use way 2.
krater23··on Vibecoding isn't a crime How Distribute Your App on Linux after Flathub refusal
Why should Flathub accept vibecoded shit. You don't let just anyone who rings the doorbell into your house, either.
krater23··on Microsoft patches Windows and Excel – breaks audio, remote access, and paste
I see no difference anymore. I used Windows because it worked and didn't break obvious things. Thats gone. I switched to Linux because the user experience is now better. Never expected that this switch happens because Windows gets worse...hoped everytime Linux gets better.
krater23··on Microsoft patches Windows and Excel – breaks audio, remote access, and paste
Windows users, welcome to the world of Linux! Now you don't need to have to install Linux to experience the Linux way of working.
krater23··on Rust is tier-1 language at Microsoft
I expect that using Rust is in some years just the sign for vibe coded shit that only doesn't crashes every two minutes because the compiler is stopping the AI from doing the really dumb things.
krater23··on Mathematicians want proof OpenAI didn't use their work
Would one of this users tell their opponents what he is doing? And if yes, would anyone wonder when the opponent would use this information. Be dumb, win dumb prices.
krater23··on Mathematicians want proof OpenAI didn't use their work
When you put a unpublished sizeable portion of your life in a ChatGPT window, then it's your own fault. I trust these AI companies as far as I can throw one of their data centers.

When your work is unimportant enough for you to not setup a local AI, just shut up.

krater23··on Mathematicians want proof OpenAI didn't use their work
When you want your unpublished work unpublished, don't store them on other peoples computers. Especially not on people their job it is to use data to create money.

Would this data moved through a hack to ChatGPT, this would be another thing, but like this. No pity at all.

krater23··on Trusting-Trust Attack against an Entire Linux Distribution
Rebuilding from clean source on a infected device. Whats the point? Could be every computer virus from 30 years ago.
krater23··on Trusting-Trust Attack against an Entire Linux Distribution
When I understood correctly, this one is crippled, because only strip can infect other files.
krater23··on Trusting-Trust Attack against an Entire Linux Distribution
27 years ago we named this link virus. It worked well on DOS, Windows and on every other OS where the user who executed a infected file had enough access rights to change other executables.

But this one is crippled because there is only one file that can infect other files.

krater23··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
What tells us that OpenAI had no idea about it? Only OpenAI tells us that. What when this agents got the order to do so, just to provide us with new information how far OpenAI models are beyond what we supposed? I see no evidence that this is not just a big promotion show to gather more investment money.

However, I see no evidence that it is the start of Skynet without the knowledge of OpenAI. So, happy judgement day!

krater23··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
It's the reason why it happened in may and we hear now about it. It was not hacking and not important enough for marketing.

And just using a wiki and trying to embedd javascript is not hacking for me.

krater23··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
Reading the headline: WTF?! This is how Skynet started! Next year the mankind will die!

Reading the article: Oh, AI have learned to communicate over a wiki. OK.

krater23··on Fish Bad, Sugar Good and Other Medieval Ideas About Food
Is this article really about medieval? Sounds very familiar to todays food culture. Everyone makes claims without having a solid justification, yet the observations indicate that it is true.

Nothing has changed, but nowadays we have papers that document observations and sell their theory as the truth; in the past, we had cookbooks.

krater23··on Fastpotify
Fuck it! I sail away under the flag of jolly rogers...harrrrrr!!!
krater23··on Samsung's Processing-in-Memory (PIM)
Self changing RAM and a complex way to interact with it in software. A new security nightmare is emerging.
krater23··on How much of HN is AI?
It’s sad; on the one hand, it’s true, and on the other, this story is also about AI. (translated from german by AI)
krater23··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
Burn Venture Capital, Burn! In the best case, it's not your trillions of dollars. Just make sure that your Government doesn't invests.
krater23··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
Is today Opposite Day? Or April 1th?
krater23··on Now is the time to give LLMs access to the ACM digital library
They really think that their data is not already part of the models. Silly...
krater23··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
Walmart?! Do you think we had a mall?! The only thing we had to do was drinking beer and smoking weed.
krater23··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
Are you old enough to remember the time where the internet doesn't existed? Sounds like not.
krater23··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
We don't talk about age verification like in a bar. We talk about age verification like in the internet, where every of your step generates data. So you don't verify your age, you verify your identity. It's like you step in a bar and someone writes down every word you say, every drink you order and every person or place you look at. And then he places your complete name and address on it and stores it in his closet to pull it out when he needs it.

Would you really enter a bar, casino or strip club when it would look like this?

We don't talk about children, we talk about everyone here.

krater23··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
Would you think the same thing if you happened not to be there, came home half an hour later to find your apartment ransacked with the door smashed in, and had to wait a few months for compensation for the repairs?
krater23··on Codex Security
I don't understand why Snyk is IN business in any way. Who really wants to upload his own code to a company that is specialized at searching security issues?

How can I trust that they show me all findings they have instead of selling the best ones to some three letter organisations?

krater23··on How Do We Stop Vibe Coding?
That is, assuming you believe "vibe coding" is actually more efficient than hand-coding. If your users simply accept bugs that can't be fixed because doing so would lead to a day-long discussion with your AI, then it is true. Human language is one of the worst ways to describe software.
krater23··on How Do We Stop Vibe Coding?
The fear that I have that I end up in a team that don't care that I hand code my stuff and let their shit everywhere in the code, so that hand coding isn't possible anymore in a team. It's the same with frameworks. Building a webinterface with a framework is really easy, but the result is just bullshit compared to plain php. It looks good, but your load und wait time goes straight up.
