kno··on Rapportive (YC S10) integrates Gmail People Widget, gains features
Well done rapportive, Google should buy you out instead of trying to eat your lunch.
kno··on Rosetta Code: solutions to the same task in many languages
Remember Facebook with anything Book, I guess they did not invent book either. Big companies always have ways to come after small folks.

kno··on Why Startups Could Use .NET, But Don’t
At Busfeed.com all our systems and App are build on Microsoft platform and .Net framework. The MS BizSpark program is a winner for us and many startups we know. The icing on the cake: it’s waaaaay easier to hire Microsoft professionals on the east coast than for any other platform out there.

I think the ability to find and hire good developers is the most underrated factor in tools for startups.

kno··on The Last Post
As a kid I spent a lot of time wandering around a cemetery near my grand parent’s house, I read tombstones of folks, some of them younger than I was; That somehow numb my fear of death as I considered each day alive as a gift. Now as a father I fear death not because of actually leaving this world but dying before my kids are old enough to take care of themselves. I see Derek had the same fear and that must have been devastating for him, so sad. I pray and wish his daughters and wife well.
kno··on My post on Scaling Lessons Learned from About.me
About.me a TrueVenture portfolio company? aren't you guys an AOL company now?
kno··on AllTheWeb closed by Yahoo early April, no-one notices (1999-2011) RIP
I think Google ultra domination of search have been a minus for search innovation, most of new search service are forced to die in their infancy, no time to put on a fight. Real competition for Google will profit the Internet and us users.
kno··on AllTheWeb closed by Yahoo early April, no-one notices (1999-2011) RIP
It will be pretty depressing working for any of these companies.

kno··on Should I switch from Sendgrid to Amazon SES?
It’s a steep hill for SendGrid and any other email service provider to compete against Amazon SES. If the price if your only factor you are a loser in this fight; if you cannot justify the price difference with tangible features you are also a loser.

We were looking around for an email service early this month; Amazon SES seems like the reasonable choice for us; hard to beat.
