kn81198··on Show HN: I Built a Museum Exhibit
True, but the extra smarts were more of an inconvenience rather than a big issue. The standalone part was useful - we needed to keep the number of parts (therefore the points of failure) low. For instance Unity made it super easy to build simple video loop and not having to worry too much about the FPV settings of a display and the built in battery worked to keep it portable.
kn81198··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (April 2026)
What do you think of making it a spaced repetition-esque system where you treat hitting the snooze button repeatedly as a back off signal?
kn81198··on Ask HN: Share your personal website
https://knhash.in My home on the internet. It also has cat picture. And is about comedy. Sometimes.
kn81198··on Enough AI copilots, we need AI HUDs
About a decade back Bret Victor [1] talked about how his principle in life is to reduce the delay in feedback, and having faster iteration cycles not just helps in doing things (coding) better but also contributes to new creative insights. He had a bunch of examples built to showcase alternative ways of coding, which is very close to being HUDs - one example shown in the OP is very similar to the one he presents to "step through time to figure out the working of the code".

kn81198··on Just launched: Out of Office (OOO) – your AI travel sidekick
Some form of view on what it looks like would nice, before I login
kn81198··on AWS announced support for clusters with up to 100k nodes
Fascinating to imagine each node being analogous to a transistor and carrying out a “basic compute”, to make up a big computer. A new abstraction layer calls out for us.
kn81198··on Learn touch typing – it's worth it
I was hoping it would speak to the second part more - why is it worth it?

I get the arguments in the abstract sense, you want the tool to be background, maximum focus spent in flow. But in my experience I’m rarely chugging out multiple WPM constant typing. This is as a software engineer coding on Python predominantly. Plus the advent of CoPilots along with autocomplete IDEs I am not even typing as much as before. Granted, I am spending less time looking at the keyboard because I have the key sequences imprinted in my head now, and that feels nice.

The blocker in flow is rarely the time I spend pecking out keys. So what am I missing, how much is it truly worth it?

kn81198··on Notetime: Minimalistic notes where everything is timestamped
This is lovely. I maintain a dev log at work where I manually time-stamp entries section wise, but many times I’m doing it after the fact. Ability to edit the time stamps and then search based on it would make this super powered.

Actually, I would love to combine this with Heynote[0], have you considered it?

kn81198··on The quiet art of attention
Vipassana Meditation formalizes this to a large extent and is extremely approachable. I would highly recommend anyone looking at guided meditation to give this a try:

kn81198··on Show HN: ColorMood
Ah no, you are not. So the idea is the colors should start converging together to a stage where they are indistinguishable from each other.

I haven't yet added a stopping condition yet, working on it :)

kn81198··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
https://knhash.in/blog

Very sparse writing, I intend to write more. As it says on the blog, mostly mundane observations and such.

kn81198··on Tell HN: Google maps URL found in phishing blocklist
uBlock Origin threw up an error on going to Google Maps. Looks like it is now a phishing website - according to this one blocklist atleast.

Just a regex false positive?

kn81198··on Show HN: Do You Have “The Thing”
The app is at https://thething.streamlit.app/

Apologies for the confusion. I blame my fumbling fingers.

kn81198··on Show HN: Do You Have “The Thing”
Ah damn. I pasted in the wrong URL.

Supposed to be pointing to https://thething.streamlit.app/

... and I can no longer edit the post.

kn81198··on Decision making among friends, with preferences
I am looking for literature around the topic of repeated voting with consequences, so not all decisions are equal. Online searches have returned very sparse results - I don't have the proper keywords to look for yet.
kn81198··on Show HN: I made a pictionary game with Stable Diffusion
Spun up another instance, in case the streamlit app goes down again, here: <https://diffaki.knhash.in>

Also a correction in the description, the source should read lexica.art

kn81198··on Show HN: I made a pictionary game with Stable Diffusion
I am desperately trying to get in touch with someone to increase my resource limits. Doing a release on a Sunday came back to bite me after all, apologies for the nuisance everyone.

It should be up _for now_.

kn81198··on Show HN: I made a pictionary game with Stable Diffusion
Please check again, it should be working now.
kn81198··on Show HN: I made a pictionary game with Stable Diffusion
Looks like :) Just rebooted the app, looking into more long term solutions.
kn81198··on Show HN: I made a pictionary game with Stable Diffusion
Ha, I have a running bet with a friend that it is inevitable that there is going to be model soon that is trained to do the inverse, predict the prompt from an image.

There’s a very rich labelled dataset out there now.

kn81198··on Goodbye Medium, hello Ghost
When people bring up static site generators as an alternative I have rarely seen CMS being part of it. For a developer always with access to an editor and terminal, sure, it is easy to push out that markdown file and have it rendered as a blog post.

But if you want to edit on the go, connecting your setup to a CMS is epic. I now have Forestry linked to my Github+Jekyll blog and don't have to worry about having access to a terminal to blog.

It does seem to clog up the commit history though, something to figure out soon...

kn81198··on Show HN: Daily – Desktop app for building blogs
Love the idea. The editor has rich text capabilities which is not apparent from the sparse interface, should highlight that (not sure how).

What I did miss is the final step of the process, where is the blog hosted. On your subdomain? Do I have to connect my domain? It is not apparent from the website, I had to go into the settings of the app to figure it out.

kn81198··on Ask HN: Which open source versions of SaaS products would you like to see?
Nextcloud should satisfy all your needs I think.
kn81198··on Ask HN: What is your “I don't care if this succeeds” project?
I very recently created a stupid joke website, to check/verify if you can see: https://canisee.xyz

In the spirit of this thread I don't care if it succeeds because there is no 'success metric' as such. What I would love to happen is someone mentions this site back to me and I get to tell them 'Ha, I made that!'.

Not holding my breath though.
