klaut··on Ask HN: Am I being too hard on the developers I interview?
That is an excellent way of conducting an interview. Are you hiring? ;)
klaut··on Nathan Barry’s $5k App Challenge: My Seasoned Bootstrappy Advice
the keywords here are audiences vs niches. See, audences are made of people with worldviews. Niche is.. well, impersonal agregate, an industry - without any beliefs, pains, dreams...
klaut··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (January 2013)
I think this is one of the best companies one could work for and learn from :)

klaut··on Deep Thoughts on the Food Tech Revolution by Captain Obvious McClure
Problem#3 is not really I problem for me at least. When i go eat in a restaurant I am usually in company, so I do not want to hurry with order, eat, pay and go. I want to enjoy conversation, food and take an easy time. I also think that many choices on the menus are fine.

But i would definitely NOT want the restaurant to have a profile of me.

klaut··on Hacker School Winter 2013 Applications are Open
I believe they are a YC alumni (batch 2010?)
klaut··on BritRuby cancelled due to a lack of racial and gender diversity
well, this is exactly what I get from all those who are complaining. To me, they seem more interested in sex/gender/race of the speakers than WHAT is going to be presented.
klaut··on BritRuby cancelled due to a lack of racial and gender diversity
Excellent point! I see more and more of this hysterical attitude in tech. If your only concern with a conference is about the panel diversity then perhaps the conference is not for you.

are you joking, right? You are actually comparing murder to sharing content online?
klaut··on Ask HN: What hosting do you use for personal projects?

klaut··on This is Not ok
Love the story! Very inspiring and i think this quote sums up what my belief is, too: “...The computer didn’t care that I was a woman or that I was black..." It is the same with any other passion one might have - you will always come across brick walls and jerks and what not. Perhaps I was lucky or unbeknownst to me, ignored all the obstacles that commenters here are stating, but i never had people stopping me to pursue programming and tech. Or looking down at me. I am in the field not because I want to make a difference and rise up the female % .. actually i do not even notice the ratios at all. To me, we are all just people that share a common interest - tech. And, frankly, I am a bit annoyed with all the winning that is becoming common. It really feels like people complain just for the sake of complaining.
klaut··on This is Not ok
If i was reading a thread like this, it would mean that I am already interested in tech and there was NO WAY that a thread like this would put me off continuing doing what i am interested in.
klaut··on This is Not ok
Exactly my thoughts!
klaut··on This is Not ok
Upvoted as well. I see more and more of these complaints lately and it just feels that people complain just for the sake of complaining. Perhaps for the rest of the women (me being a woman in tech) programming and tech just isn't interesting enough to pursue it? That could just be one of the reasons - like i have no interest in nursing, thus i am not pursuing that as a career. Stop looking for reasons for complaining and go and pursue stuff you love.
klaut··on Dear hn, today i resign & risk it all to follow my heart. wish me luck.
good luck!
klaut··on Ask HN: Do you trust Facebook after lying?
yes, but some people clean up their mailboxes. I know I do. Specially with something as spammy as FB email notification back in 2009. I did check my timeline and some messages there DO look like they HAD to be private - no way those kind of information would be posted on my wall. Unfortunately, i do not keep FB emails from 2009 anymore. I guess many can't prove because of this fact - deleted fb notifications from 2009/2008
klaut··on Facebook Users Report Seeing Old Private Messages Showing Up On Timelines
i went to check my fb timeline and indeed some messages between 2008-2009 DO look like they must've been private messages - people writing their home addresses and phone numbers and similar stuff.. i doubt these were public wall posts to begin with .. i can't find any old fb notification emails as i am deleting this things, unfortunatelly. but i does feel a bit scary :|

klaut··on Steve Jobs: Good artists copy. Great artists steal.
Just to be a bit precise: that quote is actually from Picasso. His version was "bad artists copy, good artists steal"

klaut··on Hacker School announces fall applications and residencies

klaut··on Non-Tech Founder of YCW12 Daily Muse Learns Code & Builds New Feature in 6 Days
this is all good and fine, but, i would like to see the quality of that code and how much extra time it added to refactor, test and clean up to their developers?
klaut··on Twitter-Owned Posterous Loses Databases, Offline for 2 Hours Plus
i imported all my posterous, other blogs stuff into jekyll: https://github.com/mojombo/jekyll/wiki/Blog-Migrations (mind you, the original posterous migration from jekyll does not work anymore, so you will have to use this one https://github.com/pepijndevos/jekyll/blob/patch-1/lib/jekyl... )

then with jekyll you can host your blog as github pages - this, to me, seems like the best option to anything that is out there.

klaut··on How to hack the beliefs that are holding you back
i can relate to the fear of sending invoices as well. More precisely, of sending reminders if the invoices was not paid on time. My internal thought would be that perhaps the other person would see me as someone that is nagging for money too much.. how silly..
klaut··on Lulzsec: UK men plead guilty to hacking charges
Funny how the title says "men" and then you discover that those are just two kids of 19 and 18 years old. I was expecting to read about some serious cyber criminals...
klaut··on How to deal with lazy people in a startup?
Please, don't take this the wrong way. But reading your post, it comes across a bit arrogant. How is it possible that everyone on the team is lazy and useless apart from you?

When you say: "And I don't want to start my own startup: all my projects fail and I don't have high social skills." I would suggest you to ask yourself WHY your projects fail. Perhaps what you really should do is to improve your social skills and try to be more humble?

My advice to you is, work hard, be humble, don't obsess what other people do. And eventually you will shine.
