With an INTJ Myer-Briggs personality type and an abstracted intellect, you may call me a natural geek.
My friends’ opinions of me range from subdued to profoundly eclectic. I used to believe that I was nearly as perfect as they come, but time and experience have changed my point of view. I now believe that I have a limitless capacity for improvement and take delight in the realization that my journey is only beginning.
I love to read. I believe that books hold the souls of the men who wrote them. Reading good books, therefore imbues you with the insight of the men who have walked the earth before you.
I am passionate about science, history, philosophy and the sub disciplines that comprise them. I practice calligraphy and play go when time allows.
I'd rather spend my time programming, building interesting things(interesting by my definitions) and learning new tech than building (or overseeing the construction of) things, spending time on making sure that other people are going to like it, finding ways to monetize it, hiring people and retaining them, ensuring they get paid every month, and keeping a commercial enterprise afloat.
I started out coding PHP at company 1, continued coding in PHP for company 2 and transitioned there to working on a Python project. At Company 3 I am working on Java end to end.
Granted, all projects I have been working on are web development projects; however a senior programmer at my outfit with six years of exp started out as a embedded systems engineer.
I think the short answer to your question is : It's possible. Keep your chin up, and keep looking.
I found the Patrick Winston text a lot nicer.
Cosmos - helped me fall in love with Physics, and the sciences.
Tao Teh Ching - If I could tell you how it influenced me, we'd both have the wrong impression.
The user experience of the Cleartrip site is startingly similar to that your link leads to.
I am in India and real estate prices are obscene.I am doing reasonably well but am going to struggle to afford a 850 sq ft apartment. I was looking at a 1000 sq ft spot as something of a 'giant space'. :)
That way, I at least gain a theoretical understanding of the stuff - enough to understand what some CS papers talk about.
One can have a 'junk' account with a provider an use it for stuff like this, if needed.
Edit: Having said that, I agree with your premise that a sign in should not be mandatory to using the site.
1. If you have a B.E. degree, you get a INR 2000000 dowry alongwith a 800cc Maruti Suzuki automobile.
2. If you have a MBA degree, you get a INR 3500000 dowry, alongwith a Maruti Suzuki Esteem, or a Tata Indica.
3. If you have a M.D degree, you get a INR 5000000 dowry, alongwith a Maruti Suzuki Esteem / Tata Indica, and a furnished apartment.
4. If you have completed IAS school, you get a INR 7500000 dowry, alongwith a luxury car, and a rowhouse/bungalow.
Apparently, the way the parents reason when it comes to sending their kid to college is: if sending him to college costs me such and such, what will the returns on such an investment be?
Corrected that for you.
1. Clean color scheme: The grayscale goes really easy on the eyes.
2. Match Score: While a simple ranking should have been enough, your quantification somehow gives me an idea of how far apart two matches might be. Good move - that is added intelligence.
Also, when taking on a problem, it helps if you break it down into smaller, shorter, quantifiable targets. This single approach alone will help you see impossible problems as being a set of smaller, difficult ones.

* Wrote an indexing program in C that crashed a Netware network. :P
* I've read the Bhagwad Gita, the Koran, the Bible and the Tao Teh Ching. I am still an atheist.
* I've written a complete IM module at work when drunk. Oddly, this has been considered one of my better contributions to the project in that company.
* I've completed reading five Asimov novels in the course of a single day.
* I am an Indian, yet can't speak any Hindi. I have lived in the Gulf, yet can't speak any Arabic. My folks speak Konkani at home, yet I cannot speak that either. Dad knows Portuguese, yet I somehow never picked it up from him. Strangely though, I can speak French, Japanese, Quenyan and am on my way to studying Sanskrit.
