kirubakaran··on Car is a smartphone on wheels. Here's who's listening
I agree that extremists of all stripes are troublesome for various reasons. The sibling comment by `odo1242` already answers the y-axis question. I want to note that these are idealizations, and may not perfectly map to the parties labeling themselves as such.
kirubakaran··on Car is a smartphone on wheels. Here's who's listening
In the political alignment chart, authoritarianism falls on y axis, whereas left/right is x axis. This explains why you find people from both sides supporting it. They're essentially the same side as far as this topic is concerned.

kirubakaran··on Bill to Ban Private Equity from Owning Medical Practices
My life goal that I can't work on yet is to run vet clinics as a non-profit in locations where private equity has a monopoly and are in extraction mode. With operational excellence, I think they can be out-competed by running a cost effective practice, so people don't have to decide between putting their pet down prematurely, and spending $5k per night (yes, that happened to my friend in San Francisco. $5k/night is not an exaggeration).

The predatory businesses are able to do the extraction only because of the practical monopoly they have in a neighborhood.

I believe the ops can be open sourced and replicated franchise style. And vets, who originally get into the career because they love animals will be drawn to it, and they have bills to pay, but that can be taken care of with a reasonable payment structure.

I hope someone else does this so I don't have to. But I think I have to at some point. I'd also love to hear if this is a dumb idea.

Do mention your app! HN only frowns upon astroturfing. If you disclose that it is your app, then it's fine to link to it.
kirubakaran··on Ask HN: How do you manage too many open tabs?
I save them to https://histre.com/ [1] using the browser extension. This can save all tabs in a browser window into a collection, or even multiple windows each into their own collection. This also makes everything searchable.

kirubakaran··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (July 2026)
I needed to get customers for Hyperclast [1], but I kept procrastinating on the go-to-market tasks. I'd rather be building, you know! So I created https://tractionbeast.com/ as a tool for myself. It gives me bite-sized tasks every day. I just review and do them. This completely removes the inertia for me. My other founder-friends like it too so I turned it into a product.

If you're an early stage b2b founder, I'd love to hear your feedback about TractionBeast.

I needed to get customers for Hyperclast [1], but I keep putting off GTM (go to market) tasks. I'd rather be building, you know. So I created https://tractionbeast.com/ as a tool for myself. Ah yes British, the famously direct people who say things like "Maybe I haven’t explained this very well", "I’ll bear it in mind", or "How interesting!" which anyone unfamiliar with the culture would interpret to be the opposite of what was actually meant.

"I may be wrong", but perhaps 'Americans rarely sound authentic' to you simply because you're just more familiar with your own culture's idiosyncrasies?

Anyway, I love the Brits; no flame intended. I come in peace! :-)

Looks like I created my account a week before dang! I was lurking for a few months before I actually created the account.
