Is the code open-source ?

This is definitely a big step towards making Java reputation suck less and increasing the popularity of Scala.

I've tried asking people about adding new features to the Play 1.2.x code, but the developers have firmly said that they would no longer add features to the 1.x line :(

Yes that's true. I was making the point that they were simply moving to a Scala stack rather than a Java one, as you had mentioned above.

In the java world, Play Framework looks real promising. Writing web apps in Java or Scala or even a mix of both is a win to me.

I believe Twitter migrated from Ruby to Scala, not Java.

Those things eat your life if you allow them to. Yes, having self-control while gaming is really hard, but I've found succss in that area to some extent. I fix slots throughout the day for gaming. And I MOSTLY follow them.

Sometimes it's not about you picking someone. Sometimes it's about you gradually accepting someone as a mentor without even you realising it.This usually happens when the person is communicative, clicks along with you, encourages you to explore, and is kind enough to guide you to your growth in any way possible.

Doing side-projects is like using the right side of my brain. It allows me to follow my heart rather than the logic of my head and do projects that sound interesting/challenging to me, in the language I choose to use, in the way I like to code. That is power to me.
