kgiddens1··on Ask HN: What are you working on this year?
Working on building API access for health care professionals and telehealth globally and across the US. Set up a full end to end solution to access both doctors + tech in a day. https://www.medcase.health/ Happy to help any startups or companies in the health care space shoot me a message :)
kgiddens1··on iPhone lidar with applications for the geosciences
This is more about laying the foundations for true ar/vr applications in current and future models. As well as probably testing for a consumer device as a headset with the same plug and play architecture. (My prediction)
kgiddens1··on Ask HN: What other news sources do you use?
https://daily.dev/ I believe you will enjoy this :)

kgiddens1··on Show HN: Amplication – Instantly Generate Node.js Apps with GraphQL and REST API
Great stuff, from wonderful contributors :)
kgiddens1··on Ask HN: Why do so many startups claim machine learning is their long game?
The reason this is the case, is that one of the biggest gaps in the market is not the technology itself (most of this is open source or variations there of) but of proprietary data sets. This is valuable when transformed (as my company does at www.edgecase.ai ) to annotated data. What we see is that companies that a) invest in acquiring data and b) transforming said data and c) building a model that is useful to customers (and acquires their data) is the way of the future.

"Ai with unique datasets is an amazing moat"

So in sum:

1) in some cases this is true (but most of the time there is no unique data) 2) if they truly have unique data this is something to take notice of.

kgiddens1··on Show HN: How cheap could be data annotation?
Hi guys, coming from the industry - this seems to be standardized pricing for data annotation with a dedicated workforce. Great tool set though. Good luck!
kgiddens1··on Ask HN: How to Get Good at Sales?
One of the most important aspects of sales is a great thing - connecting with people. If you want to build a company, work on a product, or anything in between your new job is: "Talk to everyone and anyone about everything and anything".

From there you will see points of commonalities with anyone and will one day a) enjoy speaking to strangers b) learn from others c) most likely get better at sales as a result because sales at the end of the day is people connecting to people.

Good luck Andrew!

kgiddens1··on Ask HN: I’m a non-tech founder, would you recommend me working with freelancers?
It is possible to build an MVP in this way - my suggestion is to take a small project with clearly defined deliverables and shop it to 3-5 minimum developers as a super alpha of whatever it is you are building.

In this way you are able to test the quality of the outsourcing company you are using / freelancer.

Also, as a note to anything - if it is not working out - fire quickly.

Good luck!

kgiddens1··on Ask HN: How can we improve the world via creative, compassionate new ventures?
TL:DR

TLDR - new investment models / Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation originally was designed as a vehicle for pure charity and changed their investment model such as offering loan guarantees versus one time donations. https://hbr.org/2012/01/a-new-approach-to-funding-social-ent...

There is a need for social ventures to seek these types of investments to fuel their revenue / impact growth such as through social impact bonds and more.

Having an "alternative market" or marketplace in this sector for SMB's would go a long way to improving the world in my opinion. What are your thoughts? Does anyone know of such a marketplace?
