Researches have shown over and over again that the best, most profitable and sustainable marketing channel is word-of-mouth. Companies such as Dropbox, Paypal, Airbnb and Uber have become household names because they knew how to leverage referral marketing at scale.

Yet, most companies rely on inefficient marketing channels to attracts new customers, such as advertising (expensive and complicated), content marketing (slow) or do nothing at all because they think that referral marketing is the game of the big guys and they can’t afford it.

This was very much expected.Posterous was apparently not doing well. Compared to tumblr, it was to hard to post content. With not much an engaging user base compared to tumblr or wordpress, posterous acquistion by someother company was expected.

Direct emails?through linkedin? through lead generation firms?through digital marketing firms of brands?For an ex,assume a company like foursquare or an ad network like admob how do they reach advertisers(in this case only brands like walmart,pepsi,Levis,Subway)?What is the best way?
