So, uh… it’s not different, no
Best of luck to Huly, this seems pretty cool. I've never gone all-in on a fully-integrated stack like this (issue tracking + docs + chat + calls), but it seems like in an ideal world, that's what you would want? Huge integration with O365 seems like the one thing people do actually like about MS Teams, for example.
Also, I'm a sucker for cool laser animations, so I'm saving the home + pricing pages to an inspiration folder for sure.
It’s always funny to me when people act like “websites” are some trivial, silly little area of software, when in fact for a lot of people, it’s their primary use of a computer.
> what Google is doing is making sure that nobody else gets a monopoly
Depending on what “making sure” is, that could very well be illegal.
This is stated as a very matter-of-fact downside, but this is a pretty crazy portent for the future of dev tools / libraries / frameworks / languages.
Predictions:
- LLMs will further amplify the existing winner-take-all, first-mover nature of dev tools
- LLMs will encourage usage of open-source tools because they will be so much more useful with more/better training data
That might mean VCs are turning them down, yeah, but that’s just one of many possible factors into “where do we raise money”

How many years do you have to spend in software before you stop uttering those four cursed words?
And Antithesis is (theoretically) one solution to that, which is very neat!
(I know modern games are also often operating in a distributed environment, but to generalize very broadly, there’s a lot more happening “in one place”)
This shows up in economic data all the time, and disproportionately impacts women
Of course young women in high-intensity fields are hesitant to hamstring their careers just as they’re getting started
Some of this interruption is to scare off users who will absolutely fuck up their phones with bitcoin mining apps, given the opportunity
You can argue whether this paternalistic approach to technology is appropriate for the entire userbase, but there are definitely a number of cases that Apple is doing a genuinely good thing for their users here.
The objective is not “make sure nobody in Vegas has a gun” the objective is “prevent a mass casualty event like the previous one”
Obviously the “tool” makes a difference, otherwise the tool wouldn’t have been used.
I’m super not an art historian, but I think the Renaissance era is when you really start seeing 3D perspective in 2D art.
I think it’s not obvious yet that they go much further beyond that?
It’s a lot of money, sure, but it’s not world-transforming stuff.
Part of how it does that is through ingesting your codebase into its context window, and so I imagine that bigger/better context will only improve it. That's a bit of an assumption though.
I know this is a cliche phrase, but when you're trying to align stakeholders (PM, manager, VP, dev lead) on a product, it is genuinely very useful to have really nice, hi-fi mockups to make sure everyone is talking about exactly the same stuff.
It's also definitely a scale thing. If you have 500 developers, it's probably worth putting in some extra sweat just to make sure they're all using the exact same button, etc
If you have 10 devs... yeah, hard to justify a super-perfectly-polished design system for every single bit of your frontend, IMO.
Meta wants to make sure they commoditize their complements: they don’t want a world where OpenAI captures all the value of content generation, they want the cost of producing the best content to be as close to free as possible.
Yes, obviously it’s just a silly way to run, if “run” is “move fast on foot”.
It’s just that “race walking” is fewer words than “a silly way to run where you have to keep one foot on the ground always.”
If they sold right now, ~$7000 on ~$3500 invested; not bad.
Reminds me of Ratatouille: “Anyone can cook.”
We make software so that someone else can do something new with it that we ourselves never imagined.
So important to remember that someone could be… anyone!
plus they’ve got some kinda enterprise/team offering; assuming they charge extra there, I could easily see $100M ARR
but that’s pure conjecture, and generous at that; I don’t think we have any hard numbers
