keelhaule··on Open Source on its own is no alternative to Big Tech
I think the author is not learned in the technology economics.

IBM to save it's business had to merge with Red hat almost 50% 50% in 2018.

Microsoft it's security and cloud offering had to, open source it's .net framework, aquire GitHub, ditch Visual Studio fot Visual Studio Code,

ARM is eating the world, it over hauled the x86_x64 architecture, and became the Defacto architecture.

We can go on and on and on and on,that the Open Source business model, became necessary to survive in tech, not just to exist.

If you don't open it, they will eat you up.

keelhaule··on Arabic characters found woven into burial costumes from Viking boat graves
Archeologists deal "with touchable evidence". Archeology is above History and Linguistics. Since history is written by the ones who controls hashing power. History has higher entropy before the Gutenberg.
keelhaule··on This Model for Events Sounds Dumb and Obvious
#@theAuthor In my country the cost of doing an event can fund 2 startups of 3 founders for 9 months, can build a maker-space, or introduce internet to a whole village. A lot of people want to attend, but can't afford because they live in remote places, they don't come to get drinks take pictures, or network, they just want to learn. This is an optimization sprouted from the local constraints of Morocco and similar African countries. Your opinion is most welcome
keelhaule··on PSD Viewing and Diffing
I think that this is one of the first early results of the work that Github is doing after here 100$M series-A Github is transforming into a "document collaboration" platform, they will extend git usage to every single critical file format. Great move guys :)
keelhaule··on Ramsey Nasser's Arabic programming language artwork
قلب refers to the verb "to invert" and the Hearth in arabic is "قلب", and it was named so because the heart emotions and believes changes all the time

FYI: Arabic is the language by which Algorithms and Algebra were canonised the first time

“A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart.” ― Hiromu Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 25
keelhaule··on U.S. Daily Temperature Anomalies 1964-2013
I think the solution for such issue is not at the MacroEconomical level, but at micro-behavioral level of our culture and life habits, if we solve it, all the macro factors will adapt accordingly
