keade··on Ask HN: What is your most profitable side project?
Mine is http://www.boxo.coffee - monthly coffee exploration.

Started this while living in Hong Kong as a way to bring in coffee from the popular roasters in the USA, and expanded to the states within 8 months. Good times so far, and it's still a side project. Used the profits from the HK side of the business to launch USA side.

keade··on Ask HN: Has any SaaS company successfully used a 'name your price' pricing plan?
Is Wikipedia's donation data open? Would be interesting to see statistics on donation amount vs. usage / contribution to the knowledge base.

Good thought on the band's album donations.

Was more of a curious inquisition into if this model had been attempted, not a "should I do this".

In the examples in description, insurance and travel, there is a demand seeking a supply and the supplier gets to choose if the price is right to fill their void.

keade··on Tech Startup Trends of 2013
Two weeks ago we encountered a need for a hosted "launch rock style" landing page that would function like kickstarter, to fund and grow our customer base in the same fashion as lockitron. We built Tractio.co to solve the need for a crowd funding landing page without technical chops, and helping to foster the growth of companies and services that need help raising funds, and want full control. We are looking for beta testers still.

Trends be warned. The worst thing about a trend is that they create overpopulation of products/businesses in a small space, causing distraction and undue competition to serious businesses from "can do it for free and leave it" day hacks.
