kc1116··on What’s Coming in Go 1.13 [slides]
Sounds like you worked with shitty backend engineers. I don’t understand how Go has anything to do with that. Nobody uses elixir bud, and saying basically “my software would be perfect” is a naive silly thing to say.
kc1116··on Red Cross Raised Half a Billion Dollars for Haiti and Built Six Homes (2015)
The comments here are very funny. Lots of finger pointing at Haitians, “corruption”, “land ownership system”, “send the army”. Let’s not forget and please acknowledge real facts. Haiti’s slave revolt the only successful one in history saw African people pummel Napoleons French army, the British army and the Spanish army. From 1804-1825 there was a economic embargo on the country (similar to what we do to North Korea). It only stopped when Haitians agreed to pay French slave owners reparations for the money they lost and property (slaves and land ). “In 1838, France agreed to reduce the debt to 90 million francs to be paid over a period of 30 years to compensate former plantation owners who had lost their property. The modern equivalent of $21 billion was paid from Haiti to France.” So, French banks actually loaned Haiti money with very high interest to pay the French government and avoid sanctions thus very deliberately stifling the growth of the country almost haunting it altogether. Note also this was the colony that made the French more money than all 13 of its colonies put together. Therefore the predicament we have today is due to the pure wickedness and greed of the French coupled with natural disasters.

Ps: recently us mercenaries were captured in Haiti deliberately inciting violence and instability. They have since been released to the US.

It’s not that they could not build a “civilization that doesn’t get flattened by a hurricane” . Let’s speak facts and not some semi 4chan baseless insults. kc1116··on IQ is largely a pseudoscientific swindle
Wow lots of people really wrapped up in this whole IQ thing lol. It’s literally a joke, only reason it’s so prevalent these days are because of the racist white supremacist and pseudosciencentist “philosophers” raking in the Youtube money. Can someone point to actual real research where someone literally went around the world and gave IQ test to groups of people ? Also were these test in the people’s native language, how were they chosen etc. I have a hunch (not a biologist or anything like that) that common sense would say if you take any group of people that come from similar environments and administer IQ test the scores would be similar no matter the race, height, sex, etc. (I.e: take middle class college students from different groups and compare. Then take groups of people from poverty stricken backgrounds and compare) Does anyone disagree ? And why?

kc1116··on Smart contracts don't “simplify contracts"
Yea your right maybe law isn’t the best use case still doesn’t make a valid point. You can take the weakest use case for anything and rant about how that thing is useless. Also sounds like OP takes the phrase “smart contract” literally as in a replacement for normal “contracts” as if they were designed specifically for law
kc1116··on Smart contracts don't “simplify contracts"
Saying you hate BTC because of smart contracts doesn’t make much sense because smart contracts are not a primary feature of the Bitcoin Blockchain. Also the main argument that most Crypto haters have is “bitcoin is only good for illegal stuff”. There are many many other blockchain and Decentralized applications not just bitcoin, bitocoin was the pioneer. And if I take law for example like the writer we all know these centralized systems are ripe with fraud, corruption and illegal activities. Lastly there is no need to hate Blockchain at all, it’s an innovative technology that can benefit everyone on the planet.
kc1116··on Ten years in, nobody has come up with a use for blockchain
This reminds me of the reporter that asks Jeff Bezos in a sarcastic tone “So your telling me Amazon will be bigger than Sears??” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6cTjhzSgdwE
