Germany has about as many cases in total as NY, yet less than 1/2 of the deaths. The death rate seems high in NY, maybe because hospitals could not cope?
> GoPro Inc. said it will cut more than 200 jobs
> The operational changes, staff reductions of more than 20% and cuts to office space will save $100 million in 2020
That must be a very high average salary considering the office space is probably the cheaper part of that.
i am not saying there is no valid need for it, but nowadays it's a niche need and the market seems to have moved on. I was very skeptical of bluetooth for a long time, but the current generation of devices, especially those with Apples W1/H1 chips are just very very good. Instant switching of devices, no re-pairing, good battery life etc.
i have a chromecast audio on the stereo which i find more convenient to use anyway because you can keep using your phone like normal while the chromecast is running spotify. For rare cases where I need direct audio, Bluetooth audio receivers are also pretty cheap.
I am not saying you don't have a valid point, but you make it sound like it's impossible or inconvenient which imo isn't true.
i use bluetooth airpods for calls and even for cycling long distances. They are very light and basically no messing around with bluetooth. Battery life isn't stellar, but enough for a couple of hours continued use and when i put them in the case they recharge automatically. When they run out, i have Beats Solo 3 over-ears bluetooth headphones which easily last for days.
my car also doesn't have BT, i use a cheap adapter to charge and have audio out at the same time. It's not great, but in your case you would also have to run two wires, so not really a difference.
I don't really get the hate for the lack of a headphone jack tbh. Have people complaining about this ever really given good bluetooth headphones a chance?
My Beats Solo 3 have fantastic battery life, i can switch between devices with a click of a button (in the case of the Bose QC35 even be connected to two devices at the same time, listening to music on the laptop while being able to receive phone calls on the phone) and the sound quality is absolutely fine. Sure, an audiophile DAC with high end headphones will have better sound quality, but do you really need that on a phone?
Some bluetooth headphones have outstanding battery life. Beats Solo 3 for example. Personally I have no reason to go back to wired headphones, just switching them between devices with a click of a button is so convenient.
In the EU speedometers have to be carefully calibrated, have strict regulations to pass and your car is not allowed to drive with a broken one. Just replacing it with a, sometimes spotty, GPS signal sounds impossible here. Like, what do you do when driving through a tunnel?
if you work for smaller or non-tech companies maybe. My employers in the last 5 years have all had at least 1Gbps, current one has 10Gbps and a 2Gbps backup.
That's a bit harsh on F1 drivers tbh. Sure, ultimately you need money, but Senna started early in Karting and was already showing great talent there allowing him to get financial backing and support that helped him further his career. He went through a lot of Karting and open wheel racing until finally reaching F1. You don't get there just by money, at least the top5 guys have mostly won everything there is to win before entering F1.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's similar. Many countries, even ones in Europe with high infection rates, still don't test people if they don't show severe symptoms because they don't have the capacity to do it on a large scale.
(from the article) 80% of people who died were over 60 years old and 75% had underlying health conditions including cardiovascular problems, so the fact that the virus caused fatal cardiovascular events in some of those cases is not unexpected.
Due to PSD2 every bank in Germany/EU has to offer APIs for 3rd parties to access the data, but they all do it in their own way so the open banking standards like the UK has are still better, but it's something.
I've used Firebase for authentication and it works pretty well and has good documentation. I haven't tried other options such as AWS Amplify though. I just keep a user reference in Firebase and then do everything else in my own app/db.
You have all my respect for embarking on a journey that difficult and seeing it through. However, I am not sure it really weeds out the competition. Solo-self-financing founder competition for sure, but if somebody else with some money backing is pursuing a similar idea and can hire people, two years will get him pretty far ahead of what you can possibly do in the same time.
Not an expert, but the multiplatform story for ionic is pretty nice. One codebase to run on iOS/Android and Web is easiest with ionic and I see a lot of small-mid size businesses using it. It's usually not about top-of-their class apps though.
Well there are still a lot of 737 Max around, I don't think they will all be written off? Maybe if passengers continue to avoid the plane.
But this is also not the first time in history something like this happened, usually people forgot after some time. Or is it the broader media coverage this time around?
