kathir05··on Ask HN: I lost any interest in technology. What do I do?
"Talking to customers is a punishment". yes golden words. lot of software engineering rules, craft is being rewritten today.

I don't believe software crafting engineers will be replaced by AI but software boilerplate engineers will be replaced.

At the end of the day, everything we do converges to the word "Customer". So it high time we sneak peek into so called "Customer Voice" and rewrite what software+product craft engineering will look like in future.

kathir05··on Ask HN: I lost any interest in technology. What do I do?
Hey Man,

One fact that people forget is technology, programming became famous because people loved to do it. Apart from solving problem, if people are not interested to solve them via programming, then none of the capital nor modern solutions wouldn't have existed.

What is very important now is, as human race, we need to take a break, retrospect ourselves. 10+ years of programming would have made wired your brain for expertise which none of newbies would never achieve in their life time. That is your biggest strength.

We are in golden age of software engineering where we can stop thinking about software engineering itself but focus on solutioning, business and customer values.

If claude writes code, then why can't we talk to customers and give better solutions which claude can never provide at free will.

As programmers we would have at least smiled once in our journey looking into a customer feedback or testimonial, our code solved it.

Maybe start thinking about how we can be useful to other human beings via technology expertise we possess.

kathir05··on Ask HN: How do I find startups hiring developers for low pay and equity?
If your looking for opportunities in India, you can checkout https://jobs.huntyourtribe.com/ jobs directly indexed from startups and SMBs careers pages.
kathir05··on Ask HN: Are any startups hiring front-end developers, or are they just using AI?
Market is not bad but job posting data is fragmented and monopolised by few players. Not every job is posted in Linkedin and Indeed. We started to index jobs directly from startups and SMBs careers pages, found tons lying outside, making it easier for job seekers to find one.

kathir05··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (April 2026)
We are working on https://huntyourtribe.com, portfolio-first ATS for hiring

For decades, we have been using resumes as primary people discovery tool. frankly speaking, no one likes to update boring resume stuff. We thought why can't we discover people by more signals, deep lens which a personal website/portfolio gives.

This gives people motivation to keep portfolio website upto date with journaling.

ATS automatically captures all signals realtime from github, blogs, case studies docs comprehensively and showcase to employers

We are approaching not AI heavy way. Balance of SAAS + AI integration to build it into people hiring platform.

Would love blunt feedback from others

kathir05··on Ask HN: How are you orchestrating multi-agent AI workflows in production?
We have been using AGNO framework for HuntYourTribe quite sometime. It is pretty much working out well for us. Minimalistic design for isolation, decoupling and control plane architecture.
kathir05··on Intelligence Cannot Be Trained?
Intelligence in today's world is very subjective. Something could comes easily for you or passionate to push boundaries in certain fields like maths, physics, music etc. It can be trained.

I would say "Wisdom cannot be trained". Every individual is unique in this world and journey that he travels, experience in professional and personal life, mindset shapes an individual. Its almost impossible to replicate. That wisdom guides the person forever.

kathir05··on Ask HN: Is there any founder building non AI startup in 2026?
Yes. We are building huntyourtribe.com , portfolio-first ATS for startups and lean teams.

We are only ATS, making it easier for people to showcase real work and for startups to spot better candidates faster.

We are not building AI heavy/AI-native tool. We have integrated AI as tool wherever is necessary.

We believe you can't built customer-centric tool if AI is thrown everywhere. Our tool is meant for real human connections and discovery.

kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
interesting story from retail domain. thanks for sharing!
kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
100%.
kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
All the best! You will figure out soon!
kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
Yes. talk to more customers and get more feedbacks.
kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
"people use it" and "people pay for it". Whoever figure out this gap and close it will win
kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
All the best! Get started soon!
kathir05··on Ask HN: At what point you decided to pursue your startup fulltime?
yes. I totally agree with this. Every successful startups has multiple failure iteration in the past.

Success at first attempt is rare. My original question was around when you decide to pursue one of your idea fulltime. It could be 1, 2, 3rd attempt but at some point, we only have 2 option. Quit or next iteration

kathir05··on Ask HN: Do you feel less happy when coding with agent?
I would offload boring stuffs like HTML, CSS to AI agent. Core problem solving would start from prompting my brain. I have been in programming for decade now, building my startup now. AI as boring co-pilot, I would anyday feel happy.
kathir05··on Ask HN: Growth for me,is realizing how much I didn't know 6 months ago. Yours?
We started portfolio builder, where professionals can comprehensively express their work with ease. We believed work speaks louder than shiny websites.

but 5 months, we learned we can't build sustainable business out of it. But we had around 1000+ signups. Users gave us feedback, currently my portfolio looks standalone, if you could connect me with maybe potentials jobs etc then, something value i can pay for.

Then we tried to connect portfolio with ATS. Portfolio-first ATS for startups and lean teams. Then yeah, we got around 10 customers who are ready to pay.

Recently couple of colleges, also expressed interest for such tool.

Now we got our core principle in place, "Build by feedbacks, not with assumptions"

But reality is most startups begins with idea at day 1.

Real game changer is Idea -> problem -> solution -> value for money -> customer, how quickly your startup make these transitions and get your Market Product Fit.

Journey will be hard but hang in there and keep your product floating and keep connecting the dots. No playbook exists

kathir05··on Ask HN: Growth for me,is realizing how much I didn't know 6 months ago. Yours?
yup. self growth will be staying with you forever.

Everything else just auxiliary things

kathir05··on Ask HN: When Will AI Disappear?
Acceleration vs replacements.

Fatty teams will become lean. productivity will become 10x. Shipping feels fast.

These signals feels right at first for acceleration.

Once complexity factor starts to creep in every SAAS will need human intervention to scale it forward .

kathir05··on Ask HN: When Will AI Disappear?
AI replacing software engineers
kathir05··on Ask HN: Are AI mandates a good idea?
Linus Torvalds said "AI is a tool"

I derive this analogy where AI is like code editor with advanced auto suggestions feature.

How far you are pushed to use by your organisation is going to break every seniors patience.

AI hype is trying blurring between blue collar and white collar people. In reality the line will exists and it will broaden.

kathir05··on Ask HN: When Will AI Disappear?
AI is going to stay with us forever. Its really matter of this how we are going to position itself in our day-day activities.

Right query would be "When will AI hype disappear?"

Its a battle between AI-tool VS AI-Boss

kathir05··on Ask HN: What is one skill Genz programmers should have to become resilient?
this is interesting perspective!

"Understanding translated into code" has been the art and science of programming for decades.

"Understanding translated into code", this user flow is accelerated now.

But the blueprint remains the same.

kathir05··on Ask HN: What do you look for in your first 10 hires?
Low ego, More passion and drive, hustling mindset, Generalists, Good judgement. Simple thing i would do is Ask lot of "Whys"

Why you did this?, why this way? , why you joined this company?

This gives good understanding of both Personality and Hard skills.

kathir05··on What's your biggest challenge as a founder?
Distribution. You might have best idea and best product. But if no one knows it, then its nothing.

Getting in front and hands of users and making them use your product is the key challenge.

"Why would user choose your product over existing established competitors?"

kathir05··on Ask HN: What breaks first when your team grows from 10 to 50 people?
Slow, inefficient hiring process and desperate to close roles

Adding culturally non-fit team members

Setting process and system to accelerate the speed of execution not to slow down

Finding the harmony with process and speed

Finding the harmony with quality and quantity

My book suggestion is "The One Minute Manager" for team management

Reinforcing Vision and Mission statement of why your startup exists

kathir05··on Ask HN: What signals do you look for when hiring?
What I see is, whether your mental model is wired for resilience. Programming is basically math with logical reasoning. Having this basic skill is must. I always go for these fundamentals rather that heavy vibe coding.
kathir05··on Ask HN: What signals do you look for when hiring?
Yes. I agree. People loved coding and software development, became hobby down the line plus paid them good. If people didn't cared about this industry, then it would have neve would have become this big economy
kathir05··on Ask HN: What signals do you look for when hiring?
with all due respect, doctors not only perform surgeries, they also spend time reading, publishing journals outside work, upgrade themselves with new researchers.

My doctor uncle, has a home library with 5000+ medical books. He says "Learning is a live long process."

Successful professionals harmonize work and personal time. Same goes for engineers.

kathir05··on Ask HN: What signals do you look for when hiring?
I respect your point of views!
