The worst ads are the shady games with all sorts of sexual references. They don't end no matter how many times you report it, block the ads or select the "less gaming ads" option.

karakoram··on Why it's so difficult to produce American-made medical gloves
A very important question to ask.

Should the US make medical gloves?

I still think it will be a coalition and not a full right government.

How is the AC situation now is Spain? Has the country mass adopted AC in homes and offices?

As a Freelance Programmer, are you even getting consistent clients at decent rates? If so, how are you getting clients consistently and how do you convince businesses that you are better than AI?

karakoram··on Keir Starmer announces his resignation as prime minister
This was a massive mistake in my opinion. He should have fought on and tried to get back support from various ministers.

I seriously don't understand how changing the leader can fix deep rooted structural problems. No new party, no new leader can or will fix things overnight.

I don't know why people in the UK are so simple-minded.

One thing I hope Burnham does immediately is make building things and development much easier like in Manchester.

karakoram··on Ask HN: Would it be useful to have a slop button in addition to flag?
No. The flag is enough and given the change in the user demographics of HN, a proposed "slop" button or anything similar will just be abused in a very tribal manner to push down anything AI related.

karakoram··on Only 16 Percent of Americans Think AI Will Have a Positive Impact on Society
Exactly, there is no full opt-out in any product people use daily.
karakoram··on Only 16 Percent of Americans Think AI Will Have a Positive Impact on Society
I have said this before, I just can NOT understand how you can measure adoption of a technology or product without giving people a full opt-out.

This is very basic in technology products.

It is very easy to say that Gmail AI product has 1.8 Billion users because there are about 1.8 Billion Gmail accounts/users and they have absolutely no way of completely opting out. (opting out without the company punishing users by taking away important features)

A simple A/B Test with just 50,000 or 100,000 users depending on the product will give everyone the REAL picture of where users stand.

karakoram··on Ask HN: Is anyone shorting the overspend in AI yet?
While shorting can work for some people, I believe people who actually understand the underlying technology and are actually smart can make way more money riding the wave.

I don't mean just with stocks or in the market.

If truly know what's going on behind the scenes both technically and professionally, you'll know how to fully milk this super-trend.

The fact its a bubble or the spend is circular is besides the point, if you really know what you're doing, are in the right location, have access to the right people, making millions or billions is difficult but very much possible.
