kapuzineralex··on Are modern games easier or simply designed better?
I've asked myself the same question after recently playing Battle Isle 1 again... Seems to me like the learning curve of modern games was so much shallower. But this is of course only one example and not representative as such.
kapuzineralex··on 7 billion people on 1 page
LIES! There's a link at the bottom of the first page that says "More..."
kapuzineralex··on The second-order-diff Git trick
Nice one, indeed!
kapuzineralex··on Laser cut, hand crafted, heirloom quality masterpieces.
Designed in USA, crafted somewhere cheaper, and finally sent back to the US so it can be sold to you for a prodigious amount of money. Hell yeah, I'll buy one.
kapuzineralex··on [dead]
Great :)
kapuzineralex··on The bicycle, simplified (without a chain).
Where would I put my groceries? :)
kapuzineralex··on A 1982 Commodore 64 web server, 64k RAM, 1 MHz CPU, running Contiki
lol, "This webpage is not available"
kapuzineralex··on Scaling the Klout API with Scala, Akka, and Play
Interesting read, thanks.
kapuzineralex··on Good job Apple. You fucked the world...
Good point, came here to say the same.
kapuzineralex··on X11 and the disturbing trend of Apple removing functionality from OS X
+1. <black humor>Next time they remove Dropbox because it might be a conflict of interest with iCloud. And then...</black humor>
kapuzineralex··on OS X Mountain Lion: Data Loss via 'Save As'
"Save as" overwrites the original file as well like "Save" does? OMGWTF
kapuzineralex··on What I Hate About Git
There's a lot of unfair or simply untrue comparisons in that post.
kapuzineralex··on Introduction to Type-Level Programming in Scala
If you'd like to download a higher quality version there's a link to the full video in MP4 (H.264, MP3 96kb/s) underneath the embedded vimeo player.
kapuzineralex··on First sensor to directly measure speed uses algorithms from fruit-fly
IIRC the sensor uses optical flow and hence doesn't measure speed "directly" -- in spite of the fact that the article states so at its very beginning. Anyway, this technique is kind of promising and I'm curious to see the future results.
kapuzineralex··on This is how image manipulation should always have been [video]
Really really nice.
kapuzineralex··on Why computers have two zeros: +0 and -0
It should be added that this of course only concerns floating point math.
kapuzineralex··on Upcoming OS X Games to Look For (2010-2011)
Let's just hope that meanwhile the developers got it right and those games can be installed on case-sensitive filesystems. IMO this is a huge problem with game software on OS X, even Steam f* it up when recently they approached the Mac.
kapuzineralex··on Etude for iPad is out
Did anyone else notice how the blue-ish marker lags behind the actual position of the piece during playback? Having that in a demo is kind of ridiculous...
kapuzineralex··on Is Windows 7 finally halting the Mac migration?
"Is Windows 7 finally halting the Mac migration?"

-- No, Steve Jobs is!

kapuzineralex··on Red-Black Trees in a Functional Setting (Okasaki, 1993)
I find it particularly interesting that he breaks down the number of neccessary cases to only 4 compared to the standard explanation found everywhere else.
kapuzineralex··on Red-Black Trees in a Functional Setting (Okasaki, 1993)
Well, thanks, I was just about to take Okasaki's paper and see what an implementation in Scala would look like.
kapuzineralex··on Why Scala Actors are Slow
No, sir. :)
kapuzineralex··on Poll: Are you getting an iPad?
With an iPod-like restricted OS? No, thank you.
kapuzineralex··on The case of the unbootable Mac mini
Wait -- they do not boot without a monitor attached? Apple can't be serious about this. I just lost a little faith...
kapuzineralex··on Complete computer designed and built from logic gates
Incredible! Both thumbs and both big toes up!
kapuzineralex··on Does Windows 7 have any must have features that Windows XP does not?
You probably mean "window manager" instead of "OS", right?
