kapperchino··on The road to ACID transactions in Cassandra 6
Issue is that it’s no longer open source
kapperchino··on Ask HN: Does anybody still FEEL improvements between latest LLMs for coding?
Ngl after opus 4.5 I haven’t noticed too many improvements
kapperchino··on Beware, Claude Code deletes >30 day old transcripts. Anthropic won't fix it
Wow good timing, I’ve been working on a session hub of sorts for devs. Check it out, you can store your sessions on here. https://joe-store-frontend.onrender.com
kapperchino··on The text in Claude Code’s “Extended Thinking” output
This agent I made can’t execute on the shell, can only edit the files within the project. Only works with rust atm though. https://github.com/Kapperchino/agent-joe
kapperchino··on Ask HN: Will programmers write more efficient code during the memory shortage?
Real, there are so many low hanging fruits for optimization but no one has time to do them. And they don’t incentivize spending your time on it either.
kapperchino··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026)
Not necessarily, since you would need to also run cargo check and cargo test. And Claude still needs grep and find to look around the repo.
kapperchino··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026)
I’m working on a coding agent that doesn’t have access to the shell. Essentially all it could do is edit and read code, verify and run tests. But due to that limitation I’ve made it target only rust projects for the time being.

kapperchino··on AI coding at home without going broke
On the topic of access control, I’m building a coding agent with no shell access, currently only supports rust though. https://github.com/Kapperchino/agent-joe
kapperchino··on Database mocks are just not worth it
Just mock the repository which calls the db, and to test the queries themselves, use the real db as a docker container, or integration test with an existing db
kapperchino··on How to fix “AI’s original sin”
Bruh stop with the middle class bs, there’s only working class and the owner class.
kapperchino··on A generalist AI agent for 3D virtual environments
It’s to replace qa testers for video games
kapperchino··on You Don't Need a Dedicated Cache Service – PostgreSQL as a Cache (2023)
Because you can’t scale out just the cache part of Postgres, one machine can only have so much memory
kapperchino··on DeepComputing ROMA RISC-V Laptop
The new Macs stay really cool
kapperchino··on New E. coli strain will accelerate evolution of the genes of your choice
My thoughts, dreams, plots and my schemes….
kapperchino··on How the U.S. government could lower food prices
Price control is very half assed, what needs to be done is nationalization of the supply chain for food.
kapperchino··on Mesh shaders on RDNA graphics cards
Alan wake 2 pretty much requires it too
kapperchino··on Scholars now argue that early nomadic empires were the architects of modernity
They were not indiscriminate in the murders. The leaders are always given a choice of paying tribute before hand. And they do stay true to their word if tributes were paid. It’s one of the major reasons why the mongol empire was so successful.
kapperchino··on Scaling to around 15K requests per second with Java
+1 to this, reactive programming is a major pain in my ass. With virtual threads there’s no longer a need for them.
kapperchino··on Buying an iPad Pro for coding was a mistake
iPad pros are such good media consumption devices, and also very good note taking devices, you can draw diagrams and also use apps like obsidian.
kapperchino··on Why is ChatGPT becoming more stupid?
The gpt4 api provided me with much better and detailed response than the chatgpt alternative. Have not tested with the updated gpt4 api though
kapperchino··on Finish your projects
Honestly the best thing to do is to decrease the scope of the project, cut lots of feature until you can finish it in a reasonable amount of time.
kapperchino··on Video to video with Stable Diffusion
If you want more vram, the nvidia pro cards is always an option(if you can afford it). The top spec has 48gb of vram, and you can get more than one.
kapperchino··on visionOS
AR city builder would be amazing with hand tracking, where you can pick up buildings and place them, or just interacting with the mini world.
kapperchino··on Framework Laptop 16 Deep Dive: Display
Yeah pcs definitely do ship with worse panels, you have to look for laptops with good displays. But matte definitely dulls out the colors compared to a glossy display.
kapperchino··on Nvidia releases new AI chip with 480GB CPU RAM, 96GB GPU RAM
In fact the amd fine wine is just them fixing their drivers from launch
kapperchino··on Framework Laptop 16 Deep Dive: Display
I think it’s because they’re glossy while most monitors have a matte coating
kapperchino··on Ask HN: Lots of AWS credits expiring soon, ideas?

kapperchino··on Meta announces its Quest 3 VR headset
Thrill of the fight is brutal lol, I just take all the time during rounds and still get exhausted by the end.
kapperchino··on Zig is hard but worth it
For the math stuff you can do things like a builder pattern where you can flatten the nested functions. But operator overloading is definitely preferred
kapperchino··on IBM CEO expects AI to replace back office workers (such as human resources)
Just in time for fully automated police brutality
