jzone3··on Short AIM-style interviews with technologists who helped create the internet
Internet pioneers need more attention! Love it
jzone3··on Tell HN: Humanloop acquired, sunsetting Sept 8th
HumanLoop was one of the OGs here. Respect to the team

If you are moving off, PromptLayer is probably the competitor with the most similar vision. Reach out to me jared @ the domain (promptlayer.com)

jzone3··on How to Interview AI Engineers
That too haha
jzone3··on Show HN: Free mortgage analysis tool to avoid getting screwed by closing costs
Hmmmm. On one hand "closing.wtf" definitely stands out... So many startups have boring branding. But on the other hand, you are building in a legacy space. It's important to build trust & pay attention to the feedback here.

Does your target demographic understand "startups" or do they just want to solve the problem?

jzone3··on Show HN: PromptLayer – Track, debug, and maintain GPT prompts in prod
That's not a bad description. I don't have a good comparison— we mostly just built this as a tool that we personally needed. I like to think of it like W&B but also in the world of logging tools like Prometheus.

LLMs are a funky thing to work with, and we need a whole suite of new tools to make them prod-ready.

jzone3··on Show HN: PromptLayer – Track, debug, and maintain GPT prompts in prod
For our purposes, anyone building on LLMs and tinkering with the prompts to use.
jzone3··on Open-source infra for data scientists
Yes! Please sign up on our website, would love to chat further and see if it can help. Our goal is to decrease reliance on data engineers when building data teams
jzone3··on Open-source infra for data scientists
We will have an open-source core framework (the Python decorator part). Kind of following the DBT model. Still very early (in alpha) so will not open source until the beta development begins.
jzone3··on Open-source infra for data scientists
Thanks man!! Now back to building..
jzone3··on Open-source infra for data scientists
Yes we are still very early! The core framework will be released to design partners first then to the community.
jzone3··on Open-source infra for data scientists
Hey- Jared here! I am one of the founders of Magniv. Let me know if you have any questions. We are excited to get this in the hands of beta testers in the community :)
jzone3··on The Swindled Samaritan
Wired reported on it in 2011. Seems like a real thing. http://www.wired.co.uk/magazine/archive/2011/04/start/mind-c...
jzone3··on My Second Hackathon Changed My Life
Loved this story. I can completely sympathize. I had been programming in school and for fun a little before my first hackathon, however I had not yet made any "real" apps. I attended my first hackathon a few years ago (pretty sure Jon was there). Like Jon, I joined a team of people with much more experienced than myself. They taught me a lot, helped me get started, and got me hooked on hackathons. After this hackathon, I started learning about web development, meeting others in the community, and of course attending more hackathons.

If you are at all interested in programming or learning how to program, I encourage you to attend a hackathon. Check out some great ones here: http://mlh.io/events/

jzone3··on A Hackathon for High Schoolers
Yup it has. So sorry, but we cannot accommodate anyone else :(
jzone3··on A Hackathon for High Schoolers
No, thank you :)
jzone3··on A Hackathon for High Schoolers
I think our main focus here is to promote CS high school education. There are definitely hackathons for people interested in design and business, but ours is mostly for people interested in programming.
jzone3··on A Hackathon for High Schoolers
We will have 100 mentors (at least that is our goal) to help beginners and many tech talks
jzone3··on A Hackathon for High Schoolers
Throughout the various collegiate hackathons that I have been to, there have not only been a few high schoolers in attendance, but many of the winners were actually high schoolers! Our goal here is to make hackathons less intimidating to high schoolers who can't code or who are beginners.
jzone3··on A Hackathon for High Schoolers
Thanks! There is a lack of good high school computer science education, and we feel that hackathons are part of the solution!
jzone3··on Tesla 404
Looks really bad on my portrait monitor
jzone3··on Bootstrap 3
Personally, I think the "Download Bootstrap" button is too ambiguous. Why is the default color the same as the background color, it is just confusing and ugly
jzone3··on Show HN: The most comprehensive app for Heart of the Swarm
I don't play SC, nor am I interested in the app, but I have to say... your site is GORGEOUS.
jzone3··on Caps Lock Key Has No Place on a Modern Keyboard
I would have done that, but it is much easier to set it to Control (on OS X there is an option for Control, but not Escape).
jzone3··on Caps Lock Key Has No Place on a Modern Keyboard
I don't see why the author would set the key to "No Action". I find Control to be a great replacement for Caps Lock.
jzone3··on Customer Service Done Right
Woops! Just fixed it, thanks!
jzone3··on The Truth About Aaron Swartz's "Crime"
In that case, if the trespassing charge was dropped, what was he being charged with? Sorry, I do not know a lot about this story.
jzone3··on The Truth About Aaron Swartz's "Crime"
Did Aaron release the articles, or just download them? If he released them, using what medium?
jzone3··on Tenth Grade Tech Trends
I'm in 10th grade, and I have noticed that my friends and I (well especially me) rarely use SMS. 99% of the time we use Facebook messages to communicate.
jzone3··on Ask HN: High School Student Looking For Learning Resources
Hi Brandon! I am also in high school (currently a sophomore). Personally, I would suggest two main things.

1. Just build something. You said you were using Django. Find an idea, and build it! You will learn a lot as you build it. 2. Udacity. I found the Udacity online courses to be amazing! They are very helpful (I took Web Development (CS253) taught by Steve Huffman)!

jzone3··on 2012 Startup School, Oct 20 at Stanford
I'm currently a sophomore in high school. Am I old enough to apply, and is it worth it for me (I live near NYC)?
