It's semantics, but to me they have totally different meanings!
This is just my experience, maybe I'm weird.
It's a very nice compliment to sitting my ass in an office chair 6 hours a day.
1) The instructions were not complete! It only walked me through disassembly and attaching the new screen. I had to walk backwards through the instructions to get the phone assembled, and I felt the instructions left enough ambiguities that I'm surprised her phone doesn't show any side effects.
2) The pictures on the instructions were WAY too small to be of much use. In one case the circle designating where the screw to remove resides was not over the real location.
3) The instructions implied that the manual was magnetic for holding screws - it was plain printer paper.
Overall I got the job done cheaper (and faster) with iCracked than sending it away, but I'd like to see my gripes addressed before doing it again. This was for the 4s if anyone cares.
I would say that consumer items are primarily built to be thrown away.
Using the higher bitrate streams coupled with a nice pair of AKG headphones means I can listen all day and tune out the rest of the noise in my house.
If for some reason I must get in and don't have access to my private key, I use a virtual console from my VPS provider to temporarily allow password logins and then immediately disable them when done.
I had a server compromised once because of a default password on the mysql account.
I am migrating away from them however, because I've decided to consolidate all my hosting with a single provider (Linode). I can wholeheartedly recommend them though.
