jvdvegt··on A map of every lighthouse
Looks nice as already mentioned: pinch to zoom is broken (Firefox on Android here). Also: why am I shown a button labeled 'lighthouses in France' when I'm not actually looking at France?
jvdvegt··on Netherlands bracing for potentially devastating US sanctions against the ICC
The latter is a domestic issue, nothing to do with the ICC probably.
jvdvegt··on You Don't Have a Right to Safe Drinking Water, US Court Rules
So from now on you can safely assume your government is lying (especially the current administration). Worrisome...

jvdvegt··on The spread of Christianity, from antiquity until today, on an animated map
Interesting that in the last two years of the video, central Europe seems to turn gray. The decline has been going on for several decades (and the official numbers of Christian people are artificially inflated due to weird exceptions the church has by law).
jvdvegt··on Zooming UIs in 2026: Prezi, impress.js, and why I built something different
Weird, seems to work fine in Firefox on Android.
jvdvegt··on A Faster Alternative to Jq
Fine in Firefox on Android. Note that the scales of the charts are all different, which makes them hard to compare.

Also, there are lots of charts without comparison so the numbers mean nothing...

jvdvegt··on Postgres with Builtin File Systems
It forgot all other locations where the lines are too long to read and you cannot scroll (e.g. the part about embeddings) - from Firefox on Android.
jvdvegt··on Rijksmuseum researchers discover new painting by Rembrandt van Rijn
IJ is a seperate character (?) in Dutch There are more like this: ei, eu, ui, oe, ch (and I'm probably forgetting some others)
jvdvegt··on AI is not a coworker, it's an exoskeleton
I think you're forgetting about accountability: who's to blame when AI messes up?
jvdvegt··on The 'untouchable hacker god' behind Finland's biggest crime
It does. I pay with money (eg I'm forced to pay for a subscription) or ads (I'm forced to pay with resources)

Didn't Trump have the army attack democratic cities earlier this year?

jvdvegt··on The RAM shortage comes for us all
I suppose it would help if I could read the whole page: I cannot see the left few characters on Firefox on Android. What did you make this with?

Note that fixing the site won't increase my chances of donating, I'm from the ASML country ;)

jvdvegt··on A new Little Prince museum has opened its doors in Switzerland

I'm almost 50 and from Europe, never had to think about this stuff for a second.
jvdvegt··on Project Amplify: Powered footwear for running and walking
I'd like such technology very much, as I lack about 80% of my calf muscles due to an auto immune disease. I can't walk without a (non powered) exo skeleton, and perhaps with these I can walk stairs again.

What about aka.ms, which is a valid domain for Microsoft. Why didn't they use microsoft.com, or windows.com? I always wonder if this aka is short for 'also known as'.
jvdvegt··on Hardening Firefox – a checklist for improved browser privacy
Nice site, thanks!
jvdvegt··on Rolling the dice with CSS random()
Nice but... no dice!
jvdvegt··on It is time to 'Correct the Map'
Very annoying that I cannot see the part of the site (something like 30 pixels) in Firefox on Android.
jvdvegt··on Vanishing from Hyundai’s data network
I suppose such system is mandatory in a car when it's sold, such after sales changes would be fine as safety is not directly impacted. Source: my daily drive is a car without a modem on European roads, no problem.
jvdvegt··on How Hyper Built a 1m-Accurate Indoor GPS
Also the wifi signal might be different at Roomba-height.
