junaru··on AI users whose lives were wrecked by delusion
Educated, established, working within the industry yet life ruined based on marketing hype and hallucinations.

Would think being in the field for 30 years one would develop some common sense but apparently its less and less the case.

junaru··on An update on Steam / GOG changes for OpenTTD
Atari is releasing an inferior product and needs the superior community one delisted. The remaster cannot compete, simple as.
junaru··on Afroman found not liable in defamation case
This is not some footage issue, there apparently was a smear campaign online.

FTFA:

> After making the music video, Foreman allegedly continued putting up social media posts with names of the officers involved, the lawsuit states.

> Several of the posts allegedly falsely claimed that the cops “stole my money” and were “criminals disguised as law enforcement,” according to the suit.

> They also falsely stated that the officers are “white supremacists,” that Officer Brian Newman “used to do hard drugs” before “snitching” on his friends, and that Officer Lisa Phillips is “biologically male,” according to the lawsuit.

junaru··on Cloudflare crawl endpoint
> Ask yourself, why would a scraper ddos?

Don't need to ask anything i can tell you exactly - because they have no regard for anything but their own profit.

Let me give you an example of this mom and pop shop known as anthropic.

You see they have this thing called claudebot and at least initially it scraped iterating through IP's.

Now you have these things called shared hosting servers, typically running 1000-10000 domains of actual low volume websites on 1-50 or so IPs.

Guess what happens when it is your networks time to bend over? Whole hosting company infrastructure going down as each server has hundreds of claudebots crawling hundreds of vhosts at the same time.

This happened for months. Its the reason they are banned in WAFs by half the hosting industry.

junaru··on US orders diplomats to fight data sovereignty initiatives
Wait till you see the movie.
junaru··on Pope tells priests to use their brains, not AI, to write homilies
> London-born Italian, who died in 2006, built websites to spread Catholic teaching and is credited with two miracles

In 2006.

I'll be honest calling him an "influencer" is disgrace and comparing the works of dying kid with leukaemia to ai is even more so.

junaru··on Ireland rolls out basic income scheme for artists
Back in soviet times i have waited in breadlines with my parents when i was ~5 but hey we were just doing it wrong...
junaru··on Hong Kong pro-democracy tycoon Jimmy Lai gets 20 years' jail
> operation

Putin has one too.

junaru··on Devuan – Debian Without Systemd
Your phone. Haven't looked into Android images for at least a decade but it was just simple bash scripts back then.
junaru··on Checkout.com hacked, refuses ransom payment, donates to security labs
To me this looks like getting hacked, donating to some public non-profit, deduct it via taxes (essentially spending nothing) and spin it online as a positive.
junaru··on Two women had a business meeting. AI called it childcare
Is it hard to understand you are the minority? The world keeps presenting you with data.
junaru··on iOS 26.2 to allow third-party app stores in Japan ahead of regulatory deadline
Exactly. The law achieved nothing yet its being championed overseas as 'move to the right direction' and 'progress'.
junaru··on iOS 26.2 to allow third-party app stores in Japan ahead of regulatory deadline
> They need to open up access to third party stores and third party browser engines.

Here in EU they did allow third party stores and all we got were shovelware sites with subscriptions. It added even more friction an shadiness to acquiring apps.

We need to sop pretending iOS third party stores are anything like what we envisioned them to be. They are not f-droid or anything even half as good. Apple complies with this impotent law because the law changes absolutely nothing for end user.

junaru··on Myanmar military shuts down a major cybercrime center, detains over 2k people
Source please on the Chinese and Korean claims.
junaru··on Euro cops take down cybercrime network with 49M fake accounts
> In every country in Europe people are pissed with their government and hate the police

Objectively false [1]. Europe is pissed at government (~30% approval) and love the police (70% approval). Hating on police is an US thing exclusively.

junaru··on HP SitePrint
From the "How HP SitePrint works" video:

No thanks.

junaru··on German industrial output falls to 2005 levels as auto sector craters
> as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is set to meet the bosses of the country’s carmakers on Thursday in Berlin to discuss the woes of the struggling sector.

Consumers will definitely profit from that, there's no way they will tax Chinese imports even more, no way i tell's ya!

junaru··on Germany outfitted half a million balconies with solar panels
Thats why we are perfect soil for this FUD.

Senior population remembers soviet union with all its warts (rightfully so) but fail to account the structures that governed the union and whole topdown integration no longer exists there.

Meanwhile anyone born in the last 40 years was raised with inferiority complex due to being economically behind and treat every word from west as gospel.

junaru··on Imgur pulls out of UK as data watchdog threatens fine
Every "protect the children" law is just a gaslight attempt to push a package of other Orwelian laws. It's been like that for atleast half a century - even Simpsons parodied this with "think of the children" back in 1997.

It's good companies are walking out of jurisdictions where FUD is the basis of a law.

junaru··on My Deus Ex lipsyncing fix mod
HN posters usually present wrong statements as facts so yours mean nothing really.

See d2r, oblivion, etc.

junaru··on CERN Animal Shelter for Computer Mice (2011)
The site is so simple yet has so much soul - a part of internet lost.
junaru··on Linux phones are more important now than ever

junaru··on Denmark to tackle deepfakes by giving people copyright to their own features
> While in the West people have no respect to other people, and don't bother to blur anything. I think it would be better for everyone if you couldn't post photos of other people without their permission and if annoying Youtubers would go to jail.

Every burglars wet dream. I have no idea what crime is like in Japan but in EU this is not an option.

junaru··on uBlock Origin Lite Beta for Safari iOS
iOS Safari 18.5, installed and enabled in both normal and private modes.

Opened a private tab and navigated to youtube.com - got cookie consent regardless.

Closed every app, restarted safari fully - same results. Same on google maps.

Uninstalled.

junaru··on Game preservationists say Switch2 GameKey Cards are disheartening but inevitable
> should the Switch 2 shop servers ever close down in the distant future – and therefore no longer provide the downloads necessary – those cartridges may become unplayable.

> may

Weasel 'game journalists' like this is the reason gaming is dying.

The world is WILL not may. It happened before and it will happen again because publications like this are nothing more than pr department for gaming companies.

junaru··on TLS certificate lifetimes will officially reduce to 47 days
> For this reason, and because even the 2027 changes to 100-day certificates will make manual procedures untenable, we expect rapid adoption of automation long before the 2029 changes.

Oh yes, vendors will update their legacy NAS/IPMI/whatever to include certbot. This change will have the exact opposite effect - expired self signed certificates everywhere on the most critical infrastructure.

junaru··on Mandatory short duration TLS certificates are probably coming soon
Why did DNSSEC/DANE not kill CAs? Are browsers being paid by CAs to bundle their root certificates?
junaru··on American academic faces years in jail after charged with insulting Thai monarchy
When in Rome do as the Romans - it's no that hard.
junaru··on Internet shutdowns at record high in Africa as access 'weaponised'
Given how internet exploited and divided people in the west i don't blame them. Ignorance is bliss and i want it back.
