julienbourdeau··on Gmail thinks I'm stupid, so I left
The flow with hey.com so much better that being an app or in browser is irrelevant. It's 100x better than anything else I ever used.

100% agree. I don't see how I could forget what happened.

Very good question! The docs doesn't mention anything (unlike OpenStruct for instance)

I hate multiple screens more than I hate switching windows :P

I’m a big fan of the Laravel debugbar. I even added the Jobs collection when I started working on this https://github.com/barryvdh/laravel-debugbar/pull/1470

That’s a good point, I didn’t consider it this way.

I didn’t see a demo, only the closed bar with some timing stuff. Does it open to do more?

Yeah you always need a backend part as part of your dev dependencies but currently you also need to add a little snippet in your production view code.

It could be a browser extension like Rails panel + meta_request but I think it’s also good that anybody working on the codebase always get the debugbar, regardless of their browser or setup.

julienbourdeau··on Hey: A wildly opinionated new email service from BaseCamp
Look at what they did for the last 20 years for Basecamp and other product. It doesn't seem very likely that they randomly raise prices for existing customers.

julienbourdeau··on JIT in PHP
As far as I remember, Rasmus worked on that for PHP 7 and the conclusion was: excellent for benchmarks but no improvement for real world web applications.

I understand your argument "It opens the door for PHP to be used as a very performant language outside of the web." but I'm really not sure it's worth it.

Because Microsoft effectively building a monopoly on OSS. I'm happy now, because the product is amazing but it's always sain to have everything controlled by one company.

I went for Fathom https://usefathom.com/ because you can self-host it.

I always thought I could never get rid of Google Analytics, but it's actually really easy. I never cared about deep analytics and stuff. I just want to know what page people are seeing and how many people see them.

Good luck for the next steps!
