juanignacio··on Show HN: IaSQL beta – cloud infra as data in PostgreSQL
Promising!
juanignacio··on AnyCloud: CLI to deploy and autoscale HTTP servers in your AWS/GCP/Azure account
This looks really promising. Would love to learn how hard would be to abstract a current implementation.
juanignacio··on Practical Handbook for Applying to YC (v1.0)
Great insights. Thanks for sharing.
juanignacio··on Are we on American Idol?
I cry sometimes and my startup is growing :')
juanignacio··on Are we on American Idol?
Love the analogy. Thanks for sharing.
juanignacio··on Are we on American Idol?
Hope this is not the case with VCs! Or is it?
juanignacio··on Are we on American Idol?
Yep. And as a singer you don't have to go to AI.
juanignacio··on Are we on American Idol?
Sure, sure,... but you read "The Hard Things About Hard Things" and you take a look at the Pmarca's blog and some many other first hard sources/accounts about how it's really like to run a Startup and the common theme is not that of fun. To me it has been grueling. So I can really relate to those stories. In my case is more about the challenge, not so much about having fun. Cheers!
juanignacio··on How Bitcoin Is Disrupting Argentina’s Economy
Did the NY Times edited the title?
juanignacio··on How Bitcoin Is Disrupting Argentina’s Economy
The Casa Rosada (the equivalent to the White House, home to the executive branch of the government) tweets ironically about this article:

juanignacio··on How Bitcoin Is Disrupting Argentina’s Economy
It may disrupt the traditional way money is moved around in the River Plate: in bags and attached to body in the ferry to Montevideo.
juanignacio··on How Bitcoin Is Disrupting Argentina’s Economy
I know of money going the other way arround. When Argentinians need the US dollars they have in Uruguay people cross in the ferry with tipicaly 50~100k, charging 2,5~3,5% fee for this "service".

Maybe there is room to provide this service with Bitcoin, selling bitcoin to this people in Montevideo and buying Argentinian pesos with that Bitcoin in Argentina.

Is it possible to make this work with a 1~2% commission using Bitcoin?

juanignacio··on Good to Great is a flawed book
Interesting post, though I still find that most of the "findings" of GtG make total sense. I would even argue that the insights are not that revealing. I like the book because is makes its points easy to communicate.
juanignacio··on Facebook making its Ads more valuable by tapping on by big advertisers data?
I am guessing that Facebook and Google can strong arm advertisers due to their strong position in the market. Maybe very large accounts have something to say when they negotiate one on one.
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
Update: we were not invited for an interview | aka: Rejected. Good luck to those heading to California!
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into this, easy fix. Thanks.
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
Cool. So the idea is to look for different connections and nearby airports as I see. Will try it out. Good luck!
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
Liked it! Would definitely try it if available at my location. What's the pricing? Revenue model?
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
I didn't understand the concept. Who would use this? What are you solving?
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
Liked the idea and would definitely try out. It was a little slow on my end matching the airports to my input the first time around. For the flights that I tried I received options with savings raging from $50 to $100 compared to Kayak. But when I tried to book I was sent to "http://www.skyscanner.com/" and received a message that no flights matched my query. Also: I was given no "tripdelta Result", In what case should this appear or work best? (my search was for a trip from South America to Europe).
juanignacio··on YC S15 Interview Invites Today
Thanks connoshea. I appreciate the feedback!
juanignacio··on YC S15 invites will be sent out today
katm (Kat Manalac, I guess) YC Partner said midnight about 1h ago. So that would be in 10 hours. Good luck!

juanignacio··on Why Germans Pay Cash for Almost Everything
My experience: impossible to find a Restaurant in Mitte (Berlin) that accepted Credit Cards.
juanignacio··on Show HN: Voia – get expert travel advice. PWYW
We worked on your suggestions and uploaded a new version today. Thanks again!
juanignacio··on Show HN: Voia – get expert travel advice. PWYW
Thanks Sharmi. It's late here but I am already working on this recommendations; they really make sense. I'll keep you posted.
juanignacio··on Show HN: Voia – get expert travel advice. PWYW
I co-founded Voia because unforgettable travel experiences often starts with a perfect tip.

Today we are launching our beta with focus in the Latin America region. So if you are planning to head down south, or ever dream of trekking to Machu Picchu, enjoying a caipirinha en Copacabana Beach, dancing Tango in Buenos Aires or skiing the Andes... well we are here to help.

You are welcome to try it out; and –needless to say– your feedback is much appreciated.

We went live with our beta today at: http://voia.travel

It's hard and time consuming to find valuable information from destinations. Sometimes there is simply too much out there, and it's hard to discern what tip or advice is right for you.

Then there are destination where information is scarce and source are less reliable (most sources are actively trying to sell you something). So... we resort to friends, and friends of friends that really know the destination (if we are lucky to have them); or end researching forums and travel guides endlessly.

Now you can get in the know tailor-made advice directly from experts for free. Personally and privately. With a PWYW reward system for experts that will help you get the most out of your next trip.

Hope you like it. http://voia.travel
