juandazapata··on Show HN: Adios.ai – Stop email interruptions, receive emails 3 times a day
TIL, people can get addicted to email. It's actually pretty interesting, I didn't know that was a thing.
juandazapata··on Show HN: Adios.ai – Stop email interruptions, receive emails 3 times a day
What's the difference with just checking your email 3 times per day? Personally, I've been checking my email before I start working in the morning, right after lunch, and before I finish my day.

I have the luxury that none of my emails are "urgent" (i.e. I don't work in Customer Support), so I disabled email notifications and just take a look whenever I want.

I'm a little confused as to why one would need such a service.

Kettlebells are absolutely great. You can unlock a full range of movements and do a full body work out with just a couple kettlebells.

This reads like sponsored (click-baity?) content that promotes a book about Mr. Low's crime.
juandazapata··on True cost of email: We only get 1h 12min/day of uninterrupted productive time
If you're attending customer requests, that's productive work, right? That's not what's being discussed here IMO.
juandazapata··on True cost of email: We only get 1h 12min/day of uninterrupted productive time
If nobody is forcing you to answer emails in real time, then this is completely your fault. Personally, I just check the email at the morning before I start working and 1 hour before I end my day. Works like a charm.
juandazapata··on The Effective Tech Lead Is a 100x Engineer
Click bait. Even the author recognizes it in the very first paragraph.
juandazapata··on Ask HN: Were we more productive 10, 15, or 20 years ago?
I remember that if you wanted to do Windows programming in the pre-internet era, you'd have to buy some manuals via phone, then wait for about 3 weeks to get them delivered and then start hacking. You could also buy an MSDN subscription for several thousand dollars.

Nowadays you're just one google search away. Definitely more productive.

I guess you don't use planes either? After 9/11 it's a stupid and dangerous idea.

juandazapata··on Show HN: Sundown – an alternative to Markdown
This has nothing to do with Markdown. You actually have to know html tags to use this.

This happens for a reason. If no licenses are required, the market will be flooded with more offer than demand. Also the environmental impact, traffic jams, etc.

Whatever floats your boat. My experience in large enterprise products is exactly the opposite, but I'm glad it works for you.
juandazapata··on Why Most Unit Testing Is Waste [pdf]
Funny thing. Unit tests force you to think about good code design. Integration tests don't. If you only have integration tests in your system, you'll most likely end up with a big ball of mud. I've seen this so many times in so many real world projects that it hurts.
