That's really great news! I am so happy for them and everything they have accomplished and will continue to accomplish. It's truly an inspiration to me.
Sounds like Fun was had! I’m guessing you were going for a proper waterfall? In the future you could try a Dwarven Mist Generator. I like to put them above high traffic areas so everyone has to pass through it constantly.
without Steam there might have been 20 different platforms, but another possibility would have been Microsoft just fully taking over the space and treating the PC like a very expensive Xbox. Even with Steam’s success this has always been a possibility. I think Steam’s massive investment in game compatibility for Linux (ie: Steam Deck) has been an amazing counterbalance to stave off the potential of MS monopoly on the PC gaming space and I am so thankful for their continued support of PC gaming culture and tech.
You should try “staying up late”! You wait for everyone else to go to sleep and then you get a solid 2-4 hours to fully immerse yourself in glorious escapism. The next day, in the midst of suffering from sleep deprivation, you wonder why in the hell you did that and that tonight you will be going to bed early! (And then you don’t)
I had fantastic luck with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Something about training hard with others really makes it easy to bond. Added benefit of getting into the absolute best shape of my life just for showing up and playing the game 5-6 days a week (yes, you get addicted to it pretty easily)
Not sure why others are downvoting, this is really great advice for people who have social anxiety - low risk, real enough to be meaningful, usually narrowly focused on a shared interest, prepares you for the real thing. Downvote me as well if you like, but I’d be curious why people don’t agree
Nothing, forward is the only direction to move if we want to have any hope of survival. If we mire ourselves in economic finger pointing we will end up doing nothing about the actual problem
In new york a bunch of people use those portable rolling type units that sit inside and vent out the window with a big flexible accordion style tube. Always an option if a window banger isn't and much easier/safer to install/uninstall.
This is great and all, but I feel like all of these client side cheat detection tools are basically a waste of time. Trying to enforce the trustworthiness of the client is basically an unwinnable arms race between anti-cheat and the cheat makers. A better approach is for the server to treat all clients as hostile and untrustworthy and use a combination of heuristics and statistics to ferret out malicious client behavior. Valve has been doing some very interesting stuff with VACnet where they employ deep learning to flag potential cheater accounts in CS:GO and then have humans review and rule on the output. From what I have read and watched, it has been very successful.
Rimworld is phenomenal… I absolutely love it, but I wish it had z-levels and the fluid sim of DF. Nothing is more fun than accidentally flooding your fortress with magma!
Bitcoin is deflationary by definition, not inflationary. Once the last coin is mined that's it - that's all there will ever be. I think you might have inflation and deflation backwards. Inflation can result from a large supply of currency being injected into a monetary system (ie: "bailouts"). This injection dilutes the value of all existing units of currency. This can cause prices to rise (though not always). In other words: the value of the good or service is relatively static, but the value of the money decreases due to the supply being larger. What happened in the Weimar Republic (hyperinflation) has nothing to do with Bitcoin price swings... they turned the money printers on max and diluted themselves into oblivion trying to prop up the economic machinery. This is quite the opposite of what is happening in BTC land. BTC price swings are just speculation (aka gambling with extra steps).
