jtdev··on Facebook Indefinitely Suspends Trump
Understanding why Khamenei is a bad guy requires more thought and effort than the blind outrage that the traditional media, social media, and celebrity personalities have instilled in millions of intellectually lazy Americans...

Any examples of Node being faster to write than Go? Did this have anything to do with the plethora of npm packages available?

jtdev··on Meals based on vegetable protein sources (beans and peas) are more satiating (2016)
From the linked article:

“The primary sources of dietary choline are found in beef, eggs, dairy products, fish, and chicken, with much lower levels found in nuts, beans, and cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli.

In 1998, recognising the importance of choline, the US Institute of Medicine recommended minimum daily intakes. These range from 425 mg/day for women to 550 mg/day for men, and 450 mg/day and 550 mg/day for pregnant and breastfeeding women, respectively, because of the critical role the nutrient has in fetal development.

In 2016, the European Food Safety Authority published similar daily requirements.

...

‘This is....concerning given that current trends appear to be towards meat reduction and plant-based diets," says Dr Derbyshire.’”

Is something unclear about this?

Not trying to be negative, just trying to encourage critical dialogue. If you’re happy eating a plant based diet, I’m 100% supportive of your decision to live that way.

Just things like Choline, but feel free to starve your brain (literally and figuratively) if you really want to: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190829184143.h...
jtdev··on Meals based on vegetable protein sources (beans and peas) are more satiating (2016)
Plant based diets are well known to be deficient in numerous essential nutrients.

Being satiated <> being properly nourished.
jtdev··on Is Substack the Media Future We Want?
LOL, yeah - I want The New Yorker telling me what media future I want. What a joke.
jtdev··on 2-Acre Vertical Farm Run by AI and Robots Out-Produces 720-Acre Flat Farm
Development would certainly claim at least a fraction of those lands.
jtdev··on 2-Acre Vertical Farm Run by AI and Robots Out-Produces 720-Acre Flat Farm
Are you sure you want to trade farming of land for whatever development or use of that land may occur when/if our hypothetical 720 acre farm is retired from ag production? Their seems to be an assumption that the next owner will be a steward of these lands.

jtdev··on Zoom executive charged with disrupting meetings commemorating Tiananmen Square
I’m shocked that Zoom is still operating in the United States... it’s obvious after the countless incidents that Zoom is a tool of the CCP. Americans should boycott Zoom.
jtdev··on Zoom executive charged with disrupting meetings commemorating Tiananmen Square
This isn’t some “rogue employee” incident; This is like the 5th time Zoom has been caught doing the CCPs bidding... on American soil.

jtdev··on DRY Is a Trade-Off
Yes, yes, yes! I wish devs could relax just little about duplication. It’s far less harmful than bad abstractions built with the only purpose of checking the DRY box.
jtdev··on DRY Is a Trade-Off
The problem is that many/most junior through mid-level developers don’t share your definition of DRY.
jtdev··on Nuclear weapons agency breached amid massive cyber onslaught
Right, so Biden has still been soft on China and allowed his family to become financially entangled with the CCP; you haven’t spoken to that yet.

Who was executed “willy-nilly”?

CCPDS.
jtdev··on Alibaba says Uygur-tracking facial recognition violates company values
So... the CCP owns this technology. They're definitely going to be using this, and we all know they'll use it to oppress this ethnic group. How does the international community not see the parallels to the third reich here?

jtdev··on Nuclear weapons agency breached amid massive cyber onslaught
It seems that the U.S. approach to “cyber” defense is a complete shit show... I can’t imagine the level of incompetence and bureaucracy that led to this Solarwinds oversight - this is amateur hour stuff.
jtdev··on SEC charges Robinhood $65M for misleading customers about revenue sources
Can we apply this thinking to all of the crooked "financial advisors" and mutual fund managers ripping off working class 401k holders?
jtdev··on SEC charges Robinhood $65M for misleading customers about revenue sources
This is comical... As a Robinhood trader, I feel much less "misled" than I did when I was forced to invest in American Funds through an employers 401k plan. The mutual fund managers were scraping piles of money off my and my coworkers retirement nest-eggs and their mutual funds were consistently underperforming the market. The SEC couldn't be bothered to regulate where it matters, they're just gatekeepers and retail investors are not well liked by the power brokers.
