jtcchan··on Show HN: A minimal to do list every time you open a new tab
Here's the backstory for why I made this: http://www.reddit.com/r/productivity/comments/274328/i_made_...

Sorry about that :( Unfortunately, that's not supposed to happen. It's supposed to remove the field when you go back to previous days.

That said, you're the second person to report this. I haven't found a fix yet because I haven't been able to reproduce the bug - it's weird.

I'm going to rewrite that part and see if this gets fixed on the next release but, I won't lie, it's gonna be a shot in the dark. Mind pinging me at john[at]dayboard.co so I can follow up when I can get this fixed? Thanks!

But it is there! In any case, hi hello. :) I'm working on history -- but Chrome storage only allows me to go back 30 days or so. Maybe 45. Dealbreaker?
jtcchan··on Ask HN: A site that lets you use someone else's profile picture in your app?
Well, Gravatar is useful for having users sign up and have their profile pics ready to go (which I'm already doing). But now I'm looking for placeholders of real people so I can build screenshots of the app. You probably need explicit permission from the owner for that kinda thing, right?

It's just that I saw the site before -- it's kinda driving me crazy I can't find it now.

jtcchan··on Ask HN: Managers and employees, your thoughts on stand up meetings?
Gotcha, thanks for your input!
jtcchan··on A/B Testing is Expensive
> It's not difficult to reach 90% confidence with very a small sample size:

I think the difficulty in reaching 90% confidence is in designing a challenger that is THAT much better the original (i.e. 10 vs 5). Most split tests are shots in the dark. You'll basically need a design or copy that is doing pretty bad and an a challenger that is a lot better (but not obviously good enough that you use it in the first place).

jtcchan··on A/B Testing is Expensive
I agree with your points re: A/B testing early on for startups but I don't think the conclusion is that A/B testing is an expensive option, it's more like the wrong option.

Yes, you'll need moderate levels of traffic for split tests to be effective, so if you don't have the traffic or time to wait around, you should be talking to your users.

jtcchan··on I didn't get into YC – here's my project
Wow - I could use this. Great demo on the home page.
jtcchan··on I didn't get into YC – here's my project
I don't see anything -- it just asks me to log in to Facebook!

Letter's are coming out - just got my rejection letter. Grrr.. back to work.

Also coming from Vancouver. Let me know if you want to meet up. Email's in profile.
jtcchan··on Ask HN: Is Spamming the only way to get users?
2 startups is hardly enough evidence to say that's the only way of acquiring users.

Besides, if the "spam" is actually helpful and appropriate, what is spam to you may be a welcomed way to learn about a new product for another person.

That said, never trust a marketing messaged signed by the Prince of Nigeria. ;)

jtcchan··on 37signals Signal vs. Noise (Blog) Redesign
I think it looks gorgeous. There's better navigation and better readability. What don't you like?
