How? Wall Street has control of the US defense Industry and Chinese investors are a big part of that. The last time we had a healthy defense industry was the mid nineties before the last supper destroyed all the small to medium size defense contractors by forcing them to merge in mega corporations like Raytheon and L3.
Can confirm. I was a nuke in the Navy and four hours was probably the most amount of sleep I ever got underway. You work 12-14 days underway and stand 8 and 8 watches then have to wait an hour in line to get chow and then they run drills that the whole ship has to participate in. If you can do get any sleep it's because you hide in the bilge and sleep on pipe or in a ac room.
The problem with that is food quality changes with transportation and time. Unless a dish is designed for delivery it can be much lower quality since it is not served properly.
It's the economy of scale. Nuclear costs are do to limited production of plants and the strictness of regulations. The costs could be lowered significantly if plants were built at scale. As is almost every plant is one of kind in the west where as China they are cheap because they just crank out the same design that has all the engineering and construction all figured already which is the bulk of construction costs.
What sort of pollution does that blogger think is coming out a nuclear plant? He seems to think cooling towers and water show how pollute. It's just water.
To be fair we were told the immigration crisis was fake by the media until Trump story rating dips and immigration story rating spiked. Basically after the Muller report turned up nothing it went from full on media gas lighting to now front page on every outlet.
It's actually the opposite. The left has moved further left. Ten years ago Democrats like Bill Clinton had the same views as current day Republicans. I use to be considered now I'm conservative without changing any of views. https://news.gallup.com/poll/183686/democrats-shift-left.asp...
I know this is just personnel experience so don't take it for much but I had to share an office with a 70 year old "programmer" who made three times my salary. I know this because my supervisor got drunk on a business trip and told me the day after he fired the guy. He was constantly asking everyone how to do the simplest of tasks and complaining about being under payed and discriminated against because of his age and was extremely condescending to anyone who tried to help him. He never finished any assignment even after a year and a half. The led developer who has been coding for 15 years took over his last project and had to throw out all the code because it was basically just copied and pasted from stackover flow. I don't think this guy ever really knew how to code well and had got into the industry in a time where programmers where rare. Honestly, for what I've seen all the over 40 crowd in the industry moves into management positions.
Is he though or is this an attempt to discredit a competitor? This guy is a journalism in a era when newspapers and other forms of tradition media are dying. Journalism is seen as a joke, partisan, propaganda, and even an enemy of the State by large swatches of the public.
We could always start another non profit to help the homeless and pay all our employees 80-400k. I mean it's not like homelessness is a lucrative industry in San Francisco or anything.
You should look at who backed the Vietnam. The Silent Generation and Greatest Generation where isolationists. Boomers only started protesting after the draft and the Tet offensive.
CA is the home of so many venture capitalists and hence Silicon Valley because non compete clauses are declared null and void in the State constitution.
I work with an aging boomers who complains about ageism all the time. He wanted an outrage salary which our employer couldn't afford. He asks for help but then insults everyone who tries to explain what ever concept it is he isn't understanding. He talks down to everyone and gets upset the second someone suggests he does something in a way he hasn't done before, don't suggest he use a framework or library ever because he will rant about how he never uses them and doesn't need anything new. He makes fun of anyone who threatens him. Anything newer than C is is a waste. Maybe this is 10% of Boomers but this is the experience I remember when I think of older programmers.
I have had to work with plenty of older programmers and it's always a bad experience. The boomer generation are not team players and they will use office politics to sabotage anyone who they perceive as threat to them. I have to deal a guy now who complains about ageism all day and talks about how experience he is and how he did x great thing but I have to explain simple programming concepts to the guy and agrees and looks down on me all.
How? You can't build too densely in an earthquake zone. And you can't move because the thing that makes Silicon Valley special is that CA's constitution makes non compete clauses null and void so that venture capitalists and startups can form with little worry of being sued by the companies that they are trying to disrupt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-compete_clause#California
Yep, Apple realizes that it and Android are platforms. If you buy into an ecosystem you are more likely to remain in that ecosystem when it comes time to upgrade your device.
