jrubinovitz··on Steve Jobs might have killed himself
This is an awful title for an article.
jrubinovitz··on Missed
I felt the same way. I like Kurtz's blog post on the topic as well, very tasteful.
jrubinovitz··on Ask HN: Where do you go to meet interesting like minded people?
I'm from the Philadelphia area, so I head to Philadelphia tech meet ups and more so hackathons lately now that I'm working and want to keep churning out side projects while meeting awesome people who, broadly put, like hacking. You still need to search out for the "interesting, like minded people", but I find they're worth it.
jrubinovitz··on How I Overcame Bipolar II (and Saved My Own Life)
I've been wondering about the connection between mental illness (specifically bipolar) and start up life now that I work at one, and find the experience very bipolar. The way I see this article (as someone who knows bipolar people and what they go through): if changing you diet helps (I've only seen it help friends of mine a tiny bit if at all), great, if not, please seek some other kind of assistance if you end it. I also give props to him for sharing, I wish there were more positive role models that suffer from mental illness.
jrubinovitz··on Show HN: BidOnMyDay, bid to have me fly to you and do anything
I'm viewing your site with Chrome on Ubuntu and your linked text is overlapping onto your other text. Sounds like a fun idea, though. I hope that you'll keep records for us to see. EDIT: So is your bolded text.

jrubinovitz··on Official enrollment for Stanford's online AI class has begun
Great idea, I'll be joining you. We can keep a chat room open to help each other and just talk AI.
jrubinovitz··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (August 2011)

jrubinovitz··on Free online version of Stanford's Fall 2011 Intro to AI course
I'm considering trying to take this and get my university to give me credit for it (it's Stanford, from one of the guys that wrote the textbook and I am getting a grade). However, I'm thinking whatever this class costs may hold me back.
jrubinovitz··on Lesser known cool features of HTML5
A lot of these examples are not working for me (I'm running Google Chrome 12.0.742.112), especially the Audio example which I really wanted to use. I'm really excited about the features this presents, I just wish they worked on my browser.
jrubinovitz··on The Node Beginner Book, an introduction to Node.js, is now complete
Excellent! I highly recommend this book if you're looking to get into Node.js.
jrubinovitz··on Robert Morris, Pioneer in Computer Security, Dies at 78
RIP Robert Morris. Getting a question from you about my YCom application was one of the highlights of last year.
jrubinovitz··on WebFWD: Innovation Accelerator from Mozilla
I think the big catch is that they want your project to be open sourced. Otherwise, it sounds great.
jrubinovitz··on J.K. Rowling's Next Chapter: A Transfiguration Spell on the Publishing Industry
I definitely want this to lead in a new generation of self publishing for writers that can look as good as the big boys provided they have good editing, and a fantastic website.
jrubinovitz··on Startup Workaway: 20 founders. 10 days. 1 beach house in Costa Rica. Apply now
Take the $500 and put it towards your start up.
jrubinovitz··on 5 days before our YC interview we've changed our idea. Help us prove the market.
I think this would be viable if you interviewed doctors and asked what questions they would ask patients if they had access to them 24/7, and then showed a significant increase in success in treating these patients. Also, I think there's a big connection between what you eat and your health (especially chronic illness), and a lot of people keep food diaries. Mixing a food diary with a symptom log could be excellent.
jrubinovitz··on Adobe introduces subscription pricing model (Photoshop for $35/month)
I think this is a good idea for Adobe. Maybe this will deter some people from downloading the software illegally. I only need to use PS once or twice a year, and the thought of downloading it illegally has crossed my mind several times. I haven't downloaded it illegally, instead I use it at my school's computer lab for free (besides what I pay for tuition). If I could download PS for $35 a month, I may just download it each time I need to use it and benefit from having the latest version on my own computer for a cheaper price.
jrubinovitz··on App-Powered Car Service Leaves Cabs in the Dust
Excellent, the more things we're making more efficient with math, the better. If the pricing proves to be a huge hurdle I think they should try a subscription based model as well, and/or selling rides in bulk for cheaper.
jrubinovitz··on Minnesota’s First Tech Accelerator Now Taking Applications
I love how detailed their website is. They know exactly what they're looking for, who's companies they can make a difference with, and they're upfront about it. I'm really interested to see who comes out of this Accelerator since they're so focused.
jrubinovitz··on The real reason people are mocking Color...
The real reason most people are mocking Color is because they're jealous of the amount of funding Color received. In my opinion, Color has not done anything wrong yet. If you have all that money, why not go and buy an expensive, memorable domain name?
jrubinovitz··on Review my startup: Housefed.com - Airbnb for food
1. If you have no idea what Airbnb is, which many people do not, then you have no idea what to do at the site and you'll probably leave. 2. I know what Airbnb is and still could not figure out Housefed was until I read your post here.

It sounds like a fun business. I think you should be more explicit on the front page as to what exactly it is. I would definitely try this out if there was a host near me.

jrubinovitz··on What I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Startups 4 Years Ago
I use technology entrepreneur sites for inspiration when I'm getting sluggish after working the day job all day. Devoting more energy to "learning about being an entrepreneur" can be really unproductive. The best learning will be done by doing. I agree with this link.

Now it's time to go back to work!
