>At least in the US where the problem is much worse than in the EU, I would say the major driving factor is the lack of cheap healthy foods.
And portion sizes! There a several factors that lead to such large portions. Americans expect (and now desire, thanks to the ever expanding gut lines) to be stuffed from an ordered meal so producers spend the extra $1 on food costs to ensure larger portions and fewer complaints. We'd complain is the the $9 burger was made into 1/3 sized $3 burgers. Additionally the fixed costs of running a food joint require to low cost and high margin items (like fountain soda) to survive.
This administration is more interested in using executive agencies to advance a political power consolidating agenda not protecting consumers and citizens from corporate abuse and villains of privacy. Mega corporations and government (US Executive branch) are getting in bed and partnering to exploit data to maintain and expand power and control. Where and when the US Constitution protects citizens and prevents the government from doing an action, the government will lean on mega corporations to enforce their policy in the private sector. Social credit, like communist China na, is coming to the US. While the GOP has been resurrecting McCarthyism, they have been stoking the fears to make them a reality. Projection at it's finest. The hypocrisy is mind blowing and the cognitive dissonance in those that way up the FUD extremely strong and empowering for the malicious "elites" using it.
Currently my biggest gripe is asking AI to make one modification to file, it then decides to do 4 other "extra" changes I didn't ask for. AI please stay focused!
Huh? The platinum rule is treat an individual the way they wish to treat others. So, if someone wishes to dismiss calling others by their preferred names then others can treat that individual in that manner. If it's good for the gander, it's good for the goose.
They may have been been "fully staffed" according to the "new" "fully staffed" number which could be not enough to perform all the duties and responsibilities reliably and without disruptions. I've been on teams that ought to have 5-10 people minimally wearing all the hats but are only by budgeted for and allow 3 by upper management. Those teams, according to the decision makers are fully staffed, even though they are inadequate.
Edit: and during death marches those can be worked overtime on weekends to make a deadline. They're "fully staffed" and work for the short-term until burnout and turnover begins. Then those projects are always behind.
Loved that game! Fiddled around and figured out how to hack what price goods sold for and to change who (indentured servants vs. skilled trades people) was willing to cross the ocean.
Honest question, are we better off in the long run, and is it a better solution, to decentralize energy generation and make more smaller grids rather than linking them all up? This isn't to say completely getting rid of the ability to transfer between the smaller grids to assist with power disruptions but to decouple and make it less likely for catastrophic "global" failures like this.
Sadly, I think you might be right. What we are witnessing is/are symptoms of a disease. The disease is anger, hate, fear, envy, jealousy, lack of compassion, impatience, selfishness, instant gratification, the love of money, etc.
And folks who argue the situation harms the billionaires typically are thinking about it in dollar valuations as opposed to percentage of all wealth owned. If their portfolios shrink on paper to be only worth a tenth as much tomorrow (but everything dropped that same paper value amount) but their purchasing power goes up and are able to buy a larger percentage of all wealth, they are coming out ahead. As #47 said, only the weak (poor) will fail...
To tank the economy so billionaires can scoop up more/the remaining assets for pennies on the dollar as leveraged/in debt non billionaires have to sell their homes or lose them in foreclosure.
"Sir we need your papers to resolve your claim you were wrongly deported. What? I'm sorry we deported you without your papers. That's your problem. If you can't get your papers your SOL." Nevermind they are deporting folks to third party PRISONS.
I do believe the whole concept of beyond A reasonable doubt was based upon the belief that it is better for 10 guilty men to go free than for one innocent man to suffer. What is happening is a slap in the face of our foundational principles and justice system.
His unhinged antics were a known thing. It doesn't matter what he said or didn't say, he's unhinged and people still voted for it/him. They made their bed, now lay in it. No pass for folks that voted for an unhinged megalomaniac, that was all on display before this election.
100% this. Want to sacrifice team output? Have team members be concerned about individual goals. Team alignment and synchronization will be off affecting the efficiency and effectiveness of that team's performance.
