jrs235··on Trump Orders National Guard to Washington and Takeover of Capital’s Police
If they're aren't any records of the crime, in their minds then the crime never occurred, including the crime perpetuated by government agents against civilians.

jrs235··on Food, housing, & health care costs are a source of major stress for many people
It's going to get dicey when millions are no longer needed for labor or to consume goods (keep the economic engine going). Oh and amoral robots can do the dirty work ...
jrs235··on The Dollar Is Dead
And nothing really happened, yet. History is about to rhyme with Francisco Franco.
jrs235··on The Dollar Is Dead
Paper wealth used as collateral for loans should be taxed as income (or capital gains).

jrs235··on Try the Mosquito Bucket of Death
I've heard of some other possible additions and improvements to this setup. One is to cover it with Saran wrap and poke or cut a small hole in the middle of it and let it drape down a little bit so that any mosquitoes that find their way in can't find them way out to lay eggs again elsewhere. Another option is to add some yeast and a little bit of sugar so that CO2 is emanated from the bucket particularly the little hole if you use the previous "improvement".
jrs235··on Try the Mosquito Bucket of Death
Is it possible to get the dunks/bits wet in some water then use a hose sprayer attachment to disperse the bt laced water around your yard to get the bt into soil and other places that are holding water (like spray anything along the side of one's house if they have a bunch of stuff that might be holding water sitting next to the house)?
jrs235··on Union Pacific to buy Norfolk in $85B mega U.S. railroad deal
They were for breaking up primarily only the corps that they believe harm(ed) their political party and ambitions. Now the mega corps can just bribe them and/or partner with them and get rewarded with not just not getting broken apart but consolidating even more.
jrs235··on Stop selling “unlimited”, when you mean “until we change our minds”
Went to see if I could cancel my Claude pro plan just now. On billing I see adjust plan button. On that page I can upgrade but no where can I find downgrade/cancel. I checked the account page. I see delete account but "To delete your account, please cancel your Claude Pro subscription first."

Update: below the fold at the bottom of the Billing page is the cancel section and cancel button.

Update 2: just clicked cancel and was offered a promo of 20% off for three months...

Update 3: FYI, I logged in to my Claude account via computer (not iOS or Android).

jrs235··on Tampa FL hits 100 degrees for first time in recorded weather history
I assume you mean 80 degree real feel swing. And yes, how folks react to temperature is relative. First 45 degree day in Minneapolis in Fall and folks are wearing coats and jackets. First 45 degree day in Spring and people are wearing shorts, flip flops, shortsleeves, and some go shirtless.
jrs235··on US Government takes $1B from nuclear modernization for gold-plated jet
American Exceptionalism, and the belief of the United States superiority and infallibility, is built on quasi-religious beliefs. The holy documents include the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Those that follow it hold up the founding fathers on pedestals and work to cover their negative attributes/sins (being and benefitting from being slave owners, many having adulterous affairs, etc.) To not hold such pride is to be unpatriotic according to followers. Heresy and blasphemy which should get people kicked out or killed.
jrs235··on 4k NASA employees opt to leave agency through deferred resignation program

jrs235··on US Government takes $1B from nuclear modernization for gold-plated jet
I'm going to assume both answers are the same and that the answer is "Yes".
jrs235··on US Government takes $1B from nuclear modernization for gold-plated jet
And what's the cost going to be for delaying nuclear modernization?
jrs235··on The IRS Is Building a System to Share Taxpayers' Data with ICE
The Goal, by Eliyahu Goldratt...

Rather than spending billions of dollars on ICE and filling up the queues, the money should have been spent on the bottleneck, the courts. Invest in more courts and judges to address the bottleneck. It's obvious to me it's not about kicking and keeping some people out, it's about dehumanizing and detaining people for long periods of time, or indefinitely, and forcing them to provide free and cheap labor via the for-profit prison BS, here in the US or abroad.

jrs235··on The IRS Is Building a System to Share Taxpayers' Data with ICE
And the problem of not allowing other government officials outside of ICE and the executive having access to facilities, paperwork, camera systems. ICE can too easily hide what they are doing. The lack of transparency and oversight is despicable.
jrs235··on The Collapse of the FDA
Every dollar needs equal representation.

P.S. I don't subscribe to the above but I believe it's where the owned government officials are at.

jrs235··on Buying a Home Is Probably Even Worse Than NYTimes/NerdWallet Calculators Imply
The home value didn't triple. Their equity did. Put $60,000 down on a $300,000 home. Live in it three years. Sell it for $540,000. Just made $240,000 in three years by investing $60,000. Granted there's also costs associated with carrying the home and mortgage one needs to count against the full profit and return.
jrs235··on Military leaders aghast as Zuck crashes classified Oval Office meeting
The laws and rules are now selectively enforced only against those that don't submit to the head of enforcement. The head of enforcement may ignore the laws however they wish...

jrs235··on No Hello
Hi. I have a question but if you're not immediately available to discuss it then I won't go into it and move on for now. Are you available and interruptible for a few minutes?
jrs235··on No Hello
I agree with yuy. If it's not important enough to write out their inquiry, is it even necessary to inquire?
jrs235··on No Hello
"If it's important, they'll leave a message."
jrs235··on No Hello
And if they ask the question and I determine I don't have the bandwidth to switch or immediately answer I can kindly reply such information. They're more likely to get a reply faster by skipping the hanging and dangling hello. "If it's important, they'll leave a message."
jrs235··on The US is turning into a mass techno-surveillance state
Unfortunately we can't tell if the Musk/Trump "breakup" is legit or all an intentional distraction and ruse.
jrs235··on The time bomb in the tax code that's fueling mass tech layoffs
When using bill reconciliation in order to avoid Senate filibusters to pass a budget, certain conditions must be met otherwise regular Senate rules and the need for 60 Senators to be onboard to avoid a filibuster come into play.

It's not cheating, it's playing by different rules to get most of what you want/need done and then sometimes those that played and gambled were intending to, or hoped to, make the changes later that require rules. Their hope is that 60+ Senators would be onboard for those changes because they (those that gambled and pushed the budget bill thru) managed to get what they wanted at the expense of #$%#ing something up that most others would then be willing to fix/address.
