My name is Jason Fox and I love building. When I'm not trying to take over the world, I'm a freelance engineer and software consultant. If I'm not around I'm probably working on my motorcycle or taking photographs.

I'm glad this is useful for people. Thanks :)

I actually had this guy interview me for a first round at SpaceX. Seemed nice enough and we chatted further. By the time I flew in for the onsite he had "left." Cool dude.
jrobertfox··on Show HN: Send Coal to Congress
this is pretty awesome, do you make a profit off of this? how many orders so far?
jrobertfox··on On kickstarter's hostility towards science
"they're ludicrous. There's an article that says our plants will lead to twisted plants that are intelligent and will attack people. It's just insane."

That's a good idea, especially because the charger is duel voltage.

oh lol, it's cause i had my figure in front of the lens in one of the pictures i took.

We had no problems, sending it through the airplane, i snuck a peek at the x-ray cause i wanted to see what the battery looked like. Just a bunch of cells.

there is a very slim slot above the battery and charger, that holds the closed laptop. When it's all close everything is quite well protected.

I think those numbers are full brightness. Maybe 2012 is better, this was mid 2011.
jrobertfox··on Show HN: An app for developing great habits
Looks sweet will check it out, been playing with lift, but I like how you can do non-daily routines here.
jrobertfox··on The Chef Survival Guide Book
I'll be updating the content of each chapter and the book as a whole (the plan is) on a weekly basis.

Thanks so much! Can I quote you on that for the landing page?

Thanks for this, you have the same concerns as I that prompted the book, which started out as the development of the "Chef Broiler Plate" https://github.com/jrobertfox/chef-broiler-plate because there were all these great tools, but no cohesive idea on how to integrate all of them.

I think i'll add a section that goes over the process as you say, because once the framework is set up you could

-create cookbook -build tests -write book -verify quality -test on vagrant -version/promote

something like that.

This graphic is pretty informative on the subject: https://www.scriptrock.com/blog/puppet-vs-chef-infographic/

They are both quite similar in their goals, I have used both, but found Chef to be more user friendly and with a more vibrant community.

Yeah I plan on doing a batch of updates this week and flesh out more of the content next week. Let me know what topics are of most interest to you and I'll prioritize those. Thanks!
