josefritzishere··on Texas police department ordered to close for failing to provide public benefit
There's a reasonable argument to be made that many police departments fall into this category.
josefritzishere··on Winning the visa lottery
Re: Alternative Facts. Feelings are not the same as actual facts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_facts
josefritzishere··on Second Circuit allows government to search electronic devices at the border
This is a blatant and direct violation of the Fourth Amendment.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

josefritzishere··on Houthis 'take control' of key island in global shipping route
For a superpower, the U.S. doesn't seem to be doing well. It's hard to tell if it's pure mismanagement or more of a systemic decline.
josefritzishere··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
I think I'm seeing a pattern of illegal behavior here.
josefritzishere··on Automattic's board forces CEO Matt Mullenweg into leave of absence
The best line was buried at the bottom. Did Automattic really attempt to claim it owns the word “automatic?
josefritzishere··on What will our economic future look like?
So far LLMs seem to be a dead end technology. The work product is so poor that it can't effectively replace workers as advertised. If it was priced to margin it'd be more expensive than humans as well. It's objectively a failure.
josefritzishere··on Do people prefer stories written by AI?
TDR: no.
josefritzishere··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
Mass surveillance is a crime against humanity. They want us all to live in an open air prison. Garrett Langley should be regarded as a domestic terrorist and be in a real prison.
josefritzishere··on Teen reading slumps to worst this century due to surge in screen time
The future is bleak.
josefritzishere··on One woman's Tesla was remotely controlled by an abusive ex-partner
Terrifying. I never want want a car with this risk.
josefritzishere··on Young Americans have never witnessed a functioning foreign policy
We stopped having a coherent foreign policy in 2017. It's only been 9 years. But I suppose tweens don't know any better; but I'd argue that they typically don't anyway.
josefritzishere··on Do you think it happened? Research stolen from their Codex private chats
100% their data was stolen. You can't enter any private data into AI and expect it to remain private.
josefritzishere··on DOJ Blocked ICE Agent Shooting Charge over Federal Prosecutor's Objections
impunity rarely improves the behavior of armed federal agents.
josefritzishere··on US police fear Meta smart glasses could be used to secretly record them
This is definitely marketing.
josefritzishere··on Paramount Caught Using 'Astroturf' Group to Drum Up Fake Support for Merger
This should be illegal. Propaganda shouldn't be so pedestrian.
josefritzishere··on Why AI-generated slopaganda works
the word "propaganda" implies there is a strategy at play. He does not have a strategy. He has advanced dementia and cognitive decline.
josefritzishere··on My business partner sent a 5K vibe-coded PR that he didn't even test
I am genuinely worried about skill-rot. My peers code and design skills are degrading so quickly. AI is making each feature harder to debug than the last. That's a skill problem, and if our skills weren't rotting we'd be able to fix it adeptly. But the process seems to ruin our cognitive tools.
josefritzishere··on Norway's Oil Fund Proposes Selling Roughly $80B in U.S. Treasurys
People complain about the kids not reading... I agree more with you. Boomer don't read either.
josefritzishere··on Burnt out on a three-day week
Expecting life satisfaction to spring forth from work is irrational new age nonsense. You need to pay the rent. You need food on the table. Get paid, and go home. You can work hard and work late if need be, but make time for fulfillment elsewhere. People are unsatisfied because they're looking for self realization in a cubicle and it's usually not going to happen.
josefritzishere··on Never Forget How Eagerly Apple and Google Coddled Fascism
It's hard to ignore.
josefritzishere··on Google AI Mode shows same products 21.6% more expensive than traditional search
Ai costs me money and it provides higher prices? That's lose/lose.
josefritzishere··on Norway's Oil Fund Proposes Selling Roughly $80B in U.S. Treasurys
I do like that Hemmingway quote... https://medium.com/thought-thinkers/what-happens-gradually-t...
josefritzishere··on Norway's Oil Fund Proposes Selling Roughly $80B in U.S. Treasurys
There's a big sell off looming.
josefritzishere··on Top Pentagon Official Contracted Personal Lawyer to Handle Minerals Deal
This is a strange and probably illegal use of the military.
josefritzishere··on 120 days until Google restricts side-loading, declaring war on Android freedom
Sundar Pichai is violating anti-trust law for fun and profit.
josefritzishere··on New York Times and The Athletic workers demand company scrap Kalshi deal
Kalshi is illegal gambling and gambling is not news. You can find illegal gambling in all five boroughs of New York in person.
josefritzishere··on Instrument clusters are now paid extras in two Hyundai models
Well now we know that José Muñoz is evil and psychotic.
josefritzishere··on Judge Tells RFK Jr. To Stop Using Fake AI Studies on Teen Pregnancy
I can't tell if RFK is a jabbering insane person or a maniacal grifter.
josefritzishere··on Florida revokes permits for license plate readers on state highways
I could have been more clear. Mass surveillance is not something for which we should be issuing and revoking permits or licenses. It should be simply illegal full stop.
