joseda-hg··on GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone
You can get a an order prefilled

With computer use Both Astra and Sol have been able to make sense of my markdown recipes, and based on those place prepare a shopping cart for me to review and finish buying

Probably a bit much for the average user though, even if it's trivial to setup

joseda-hg··on Sonnet 5.5
Gmail, Meet and Presentations do all of those

People use them, if for no other reason, because they are cheap, or are part of the Chromebook generation and have gotten used to it

Of their suite, Presentation and Sheets are the only ones people really have gripes about, Sheets by power users because it isn't Excel and it can never be, and Presentations because it's the ugly duckling of the suite

joseda-hg··on GPT-6 Sol and Luna
So far, yes

They usually reduce usage consumption in line with cost reductions (But not always 1:1)

joseda-hg··on HuggingFace: Security.txt
It's fantasy and fantasy is clearly for children
joseda-hg··on Jellyfin 12.0
I assume via metadata, classified externally, which is a large part of the selling point of Jellyfin
joseda-hg··on Google Antigravity TOS: 3rd party usage can get Google account suspended
If you're, say, Theo, you can selfhost email all you want, but it still ties down your YouTube channel, AdSense, etc., with little to no recourse.
joseda-hg··on Kagi added a setting for removing paywalled links from search results
Isn't this what Brave tried to push? You get their Basic Attention Token crypto
joseda-hg··on What happens when an LLM never sees material beyond fifth grade?
If they're trained on the output of a larger model... Would they inherit "thinking" that they know more than they do?

It'd be interesting to see if distillation increases hallucinations for specific topics the larger LLM is confident in

joseda-hg··on AI Coding Without the Vibes
I don't know if this was universal, but when I was a student we weren't allowed calculators until I believe 10th grade

You learn stuff by heart, so that when you mess up with the calculator you have a feel that stuff has gone wrong

joseda-hg··on Introducing Toast 1
I'm pretty confident we could steal The Though Emporium's Single use thermite based instant hot dog [1] design and make instant packaged toast, fresh to order

joseda-hg··on DeepSeek peak/off-peak pricing update
I get that the propietary harness is better most of the time, but if this is really a risk factor to consider why not go with one of the open source harnesses?

Pi/OpenCode seem pretty straight foward and widely used enough for this to be viable

OMP as I understand does it's own vendoring of tools, so I assume it'd be a pain in the ass to audit, but that means you're even safe from base OS shenanigans

joseda-hg··on Go is an ideal language for AI-assisted software engineering
How would you compare it to C#? Stable-ish There's a lot of documentation and plenty of stablished patterns, so LLM can produce it no sweat Everything and the Kitchen Sink Performant, and safeish, even if not null safe
joseda-hg··on 'Pervert glasses': Backlash against Meta's smart glasses grows
Subtler yes, but you can't point them or get good feedback for interactions, except I guess the hat
joseda-hg··on 'Pervert glasses': Backlash against Meta's smart glasses grows
Then you can filter only the visible part of the signal, plus if they become common you risk interference, contamination or long term exposure (Your face regularly points to other people faces/eyes)

joseda-hg··on NixOS 26.05
On NixOS in particular, unless it's something so esoteric that I know it's worth documenting (or so obscure that it's pointless to remember), things tend to be pretty self-descriptive and most changes are relatively small.

I mostly just check the diff, and if nothing looks particularly wrong, I commit it. I mostly care about the final result. Commits are there for eventual auditing, but they're not that important to me.

I (or an LLM) can always clean things up later, and there's plenty of time considering this is the configuration for however many machines I'll be using for the foreseeable future. I used to spend a lot more time tinkering with configs that could be wiped out by a failed Windows Update.

joseda-hg··on How Alberta Eradicated Rats
I mean, however close we might treat them as, they're still fundamentally diferent animals

Since they can't throw up or burp, something that produces enough gas (More than a regular soda) could in theory kill a rat, but just make a human slightly inconvenienced, or on the same idea, you could wrap the poisson on an emetic agent to make it safer while not affecting the rat at all

joseda-hg··on I Am Not a Reverse Centaur
An ecosystem on shared formats can exist hapily

There's a billion ways of opening a markdown and doing things with it and generally they all coexist hapily

joseda-hg··on Tailwind and slop apps
I dunno, I know plenty of people that would make a case for first guy, y'know "A combat ready unit never passed inspection, and a inspection ready unit never passed combat" and all

I know plenty of DJ's that are surprisingly tech averse, whatever art is on their pages, is more of a testament to who they hired as a designer than their own artistic acumen

joseda-hg··on Claude Fable is relentlessly proactive
Compared to other models that halt the loop on intermediate steps, or to ask further clarification, even if it's not the human equivalent of proactive, you see the similarity, right?
joseda-hg··on A jacket that harvests drinking water from the air
If a human needs about 1L per day on a minimal survival scenario, we're talking 20+ jackets right?
joseda-hg··on Human migration has surged since 2000 – these maps reveal where people are going
Internal migration has mostly saturated capacity all accross the region in South America

It'll take a while until anyone relaxes

joseda-hg··on Anti-social: It's fads, not friends, which now dominate social media feeds
In defense of 'How money works' I don't think there's much in the way of positive anything to cover for his format/field, not for current times in particular

His most famous videos are on the topic of bullshit jobs, the movie Wolf of wallstreet, various X is collapsing and a Money Laundering Explanations

joseda-hg··on MacBook Neo is so popular that Apple doubled production
Mac trackpads (And even the Magic Trackpad itself) is AFAIK best in class Good enough that some people even do trackpads on desktop
joseda-hg··on Nobody cracks open a programming book anymore
In general I get that, but O'Reilly has enough prestige/recognition that I assumed they'd be the top outliers, if they don't break the thousands, I assume basically no one does in the field (Barring books for beginners, that have a significantly larger potential buyer pool)
joseda-hg··on Nobody cracks open a programming book anymore
This is not a jab at you (or your book), But I always assumed O'Reilly's per book sales would be significantly larger, like 4 figures at the minimum
joseda-hg··on Hacker News front page as a site
One big thing with the news paper is that there was a larger main story that worked as a visual anchor and the columns/subsections could be placed freely on the edges as necessary
joseda-hg··on Gemini 3.5 Flash
It looks like the starting soon screen of a crypto presentation
joseda-hg··on NASA still maintains some of the Voyager spacecraft code from the 70s era
Also, many decisions taken Probably can be traced to limitations / idiosincracies of the era

And you're left with a codebase that has been in hands of 6 Decades of probably great engineers that have already done a lot, plus any of the arcane cruft of such a long lived and esoteric project

It's a great CV highlight, but I don't know if it's the best learning opportunity

joseda-hg··on NASA still maintains some of the Voyager spacecraft code from the 70s era
Maybe I'm used to think of NASA as this infinite budget agency, but considering Voyager's significance...

To me that souns like we should test all revisions of the CPU, not none of them
