jonbwhite··on OpenNode – Bitcoin Payment Processor
You don't. They are accepting $100 worth of BTC, converting it to dollars and giving you the dollars. They are basically operating like a credit card processor with a 1% fee, allowing you to accept bitcoin but operate in dollars.
jonbwhite··on Claude Code's source code has been leaked via a map file in their NPM registry

jonbwhite··on Ask HN: GPT-3 reveals my full name – can I do anything?
Is it really that different than a search engine? Take away the AI specific language and you have two products that when given his username return results with his real name.

It the letter it noted that the reason for the public disclosure was due to Elon's significant stake of ownership in SolarCity and SEC disclosure obligations.

jonbwhite··on When Life Gives You Lemons
I believe he is suggesting that this action is backed by dealers as part of the ongoing legal battle resulting from Tesla not allowing dealers to sell their cars.
jonbwhite··on Stripe CTF3: Distributed Systems is live
Yep, there system seems to be having some problems.
jonbwhite··on How Square moves Cash
Transactions via Square Cash show up as "transaction adjustments" in my bank account. It is possible that Square is using VPP and that is simply how Visa distributes the payments, but it seemed to be different to me.
jonbwhite··on How Square moves Cash
Square is taking advantage of the existing terrible system to give users an experience that is a step in the right direction.

But I agree having instantaneous transfers instituted at the bank level would be real progress. Unfortunately congress can't even agree on the incremental changes it makes to the existing system, so I have little hope for sweeping reform.

jonbwhite··on How Square moves Cash
Yeah, it's unclear what Square's responsibility is in this situation, especially since they are indirectly performing transactions on your behalf.
jonbwhite··on How Square moves Cash
Point taken, but given ACH as the alternative, I still think this is a step in the right direction.

jonbwhite··on The Used TV Price Is Too Damn High
I imagine the same would be true for laptops then, but it doesn't appear to be. I guess people are just more used to the falling prices of computers than they are for TVs.
jonbwhite··on IPhone-like password fields
I have a Treo 650 right now, and it does have this functionality. Even though web browsing on the old Treos is pretty dismal, the older smartphones still set up a lot of the groundwork that the iPhone needed to be successful. And indeed, the iPhone has made a lot of breakthroughs in the smartphone world, but it still bothers me when it gets credit for features borrowed from its predecessors.
jonbwhite··on Why everyone should use Safari for rich web development
Arguably, the only reason why OSX could be considered the only system that test via virtualization is that Apple makes it illegal to virtualize OSX in the first place.
