johnsillings··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
that's very clever
johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
:)

Sorry this came so late, but there's now a single-player mode. Just create a room and click "Start a one-player game" when you're the only one in there!

johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
working on it now!
johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
let me know how it goes, and if there's anything i can do to make it more fun!

no single player mode (but I could add one!) – would you be interested in playing 1p beyond just kicking tires?
johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
cool! that sounds pretty tough, but fun!
johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
i've never played it, but a guy in a coffee shop (a patron) once gave me his Smule business card(!!) and i checked his songs on there; looks like they have a real cult following
johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
sick!!
johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game

johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game

johnsillings··on Show HN: Mic Drop, a real-time multiplayer karaoke game
looks fun :)

the game doesn't play or stream any audio (though i think maybe a countdown timer or other fun sound effects would be nice)

players usually either a) play in real life on their phones or b) use something like Google Meet or Discord to sing their lyrics

that being said, the "buzz in" feature is sensitive to latency (but, in my experience, it usually takes players a few seconds to think of a song that fits the target word anyway)

that sounds awesome! do you recall what it was? i'd love to check it out. (and thanks!)

happy you're into it – hope you enjoy!

(and hopefully this goes without saying, but if there's anything i can do to make it a better experience, please let me know :))

johnsillings··on Show HN: Ox – an AI agent that catches tech debt before it's committed
Cool project. How is this different from Greptile, Cubic, etc?
johnsillings··on Training our own AI models
why?
johnsillings··on You can no longer Google the word 'disregard'
it's not fixed for me:

> disregard /ˌdisrəˈɡärd/ Understood. Let me know what you would like to work on instead!

amusingly, it does provide the pronunciation and the dictionary-definition h2-ish formatting... and then no definition

johnsillings··on Launch HN: Vela (YC W26) – AI for complex scheduling
this is cool – congrats on the launch.

generally when i give someone my calendar link, i'm pretty happy for them to just choose whatever time within those constraints. i like the future where everyone opts in ("i will meet as long as my preferences are considered") & there doesn't need to be any manual clicking/coordination whatsoever.

as a tidbit of feedback: are you explicitly targeting b2b? i would like to just sign up, but i'll book a demo if that's the only option :)

johnsillings··on Launch HN: Livedocs (YC W22) – An AI-native notebook for data analysis
looks great & appreciate that there is an accessible pricing tier. congrats on the launch!
johnsillings··on Notepad++ hijacked by state-sponsored actors

johnsillings··on Launch HN: AgentMail (YC S25) – An API that gives agents their own email inboxes
super cool launch – congrats!

selling to big pharma companies as a startup is hard, so huge props on getting adoption there. the product looks very slick.
