johngorse··on Ask HN: Is there an international market for my niche app?
I will start building a simple material receiving report web app, mostly to help my mother-in-law. She enters delivery note items (goods) from various suppliers into Excel table, but she's struggling with filling those Excel files and printing them. I wonder if there is an international market for this kind of app and I want to find out where those people hang on internet (forums, FB groups etc.). If you can point me to some, I will greatly appreciate. Link to landing page of the app I wanted to build:

johngorse··on Show HN: Calculate monthly salary in Slovenia in 3 steps
Hi,creator of this mini site here. While this mini site is in Slovene language, it could benefit to foreign freelancers or 9 to 5 job seekers who are currently in Slovenia. First input field is brutto payment, second is cost for lunch and commute (in Slovenia companies must pay you for that) and the third field is number of kids you have. Calculation result is what you get on you bank account on monthly basis. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to ask me.
johngorse··on Great Divide in How Americans Commute to Work
Why do people with car drive alone to work? There is a big chance that someone from your neighborhood is going at least in your direction. We practice co-driving in Europe all the time.
johngorse··on Ask HN: How to publish your side project on Twitter if you have no followers?
Did. You can't publish landing pages for products that are not even MVP on HN, IndieHackers and Product Hunt. The only one that you can is BetaList. I think my question is valid. Because if you listen to famous makers and influencers like Peter Levels, Justin Jackson and others, they use their Twitter channel as a primary source for validating idea. The others, that don't have 10K followers are in a tough position because you have to first build an audience. With what? Blog posts?
johngorse··on Ask HN: How to publish your side project on Twitter if you have no followers?
Let's say you want to validate your idea with a simple landing page with signup form. Where you would publish this stuff?
johngorse··on Ask HN: Did your life as a parent affected your life as a developer?
It is possible to find a closer job, but I kinda like it here where I am. I have an awesome team mates. I was thinking about remote job, but this is another story, because the lack of personal contact changes you I guess. While I love my wife and my two kids (son - 2 years old, daughter - 5 months) I guess it is healthy to change environment from time to time.
johngorse··on Ask HN: Did your life as a parent affected your life as a developer?
LOL, I'm waiting for that day man, it will be the happiest day of my life ;)
johngorse··on Ask HN: Did your life as a parent affected your life as a developer?
Well I must be in the office 4 days per week and 1 day per week I can work from home. Is this 1 day per week your company policy or did you convince your boss that you can pull it off remotely?
johngorse··on Ask HN: Did your life as a parent affected your life as a developer?
Tnx for suggestion. I did a change. More like it or do you have any concrete suggestion about font?
johngorse··on Could you get a great job even if you have a family?
Could this be moved to ASK section please?
johngorse··on Show HN: FamilyOKJobs, jobs with a chance to be with your family
Tnx for this. I will fix that typo and implement a link to apply page. Not immediately, but in the evening, after kids go to bed and wife is satisfied ;)
johngorse··on Ask HN: Is there an api-less payment service?
I already know that. But it is weird that those services don't offer hosted solutions. I would pay for that kind of service.
johngorse··on Introducing Cloud Functions for Firebase
Is it possible to setup a Stripe server side .js code on this?
johngorse··on Show HN: MyHours – Time tracking for digital nomads
Hi, thanks for signing up, you can switch on simple time tracking if you go to Profile page in Manage menu. Also did you create projects and tasks in a wizard when you first sign up?
johngorse··on Show HN: MyHours – Time tracking for digital nomads
We redesigned it, but indeed it might be among the first time tracking web applications out there. It was never shown on HN before.
johngorse··on Show HN: MyHours – Time tracking for digital nomads
Hi, tnx for your comment and opinion. You don't know how much I appreciate that kind of evaluation. I will discuss with my colleagues about this.
johngorse··on Show HN: MyHours – Time tracking for digital nomads

johngorse··on Show HN: MyHours – Time tracking for digital nomads
Hi, tnx for your comment. We're redesigning our landing page currently, so there will be nicer pictures on it too.
johngorse··on Ask HN: How many of you commute every day to work and how far?
Despite all of those remote jobs, there are still companies in IT that ignore ability to work remote. So some of us still commute every day several miles (kilometers), myself included: 100 km per day (50 km in one direction). What do you think drives company CEOs to ignore remote work?
johngorse··on Are you afraid of technological singularity?
Well I agree with you at some point. But how do you look at the nanotech in general then? I think that Michio Kaku talked about how with nanotech it is possible to attack cancer cells precisely, so that imho that is some point of inteligence in your body then..
johngorse··on Escape from Microsoft bubble
Wow, I didn't realize that It will be such a hype with this article :) What I was trying to say is, that in all those years that I worked in MS technologies, I completly overlooked other tehnologies. I just wanted to express, that a man has to have his eyes wide open. And I get a feeling, that open source guys has much more wide range of knowledge on all areas. Where did you first heard a news on HTML5? On HN or on some MSDN forum? This is what I was tryin to explain.
johngorse··on Why is programming an art
Thanks for the links. I didn't say that John's code is ugly, I just remember reading about it in some magazine. They (magazine) obviously didn't have a clue back then ...
