I like this quote. But this analogy doesn’t exactly work. Withe this hype cycle, CEOs are getting out and saying that AI will replace humans, not horses. Unlike previous artisans making carriages, the CEOs saying these things have very clear motivations to make you believe the hype.

We have banned YouTube on our house, without an adult watching. But I make a private playlist that has interesting videos I see, mostly educational, so when we have time to watch we watch something of quality.
I’m trying to build a consolidated database of PFAS free products that make it easier for shoppers to find safe foods, cleaners, clothes, and other products families commonly use. The database shows not only the product, but the reason it’s considered pfas free; sometimes all you have to go on is the brands word, sometimes there is third party testing for pfas, sometimes there is a material issue justifying it. We tried to present it all for the consumer to easily decide. Users can search, or browse for products using categories.

Wait, so if you’re worried about an ai apocalypse, you’re not using it. What does that solve?

Are the ethical users avoiding LLMs entirely? Or only for certain use cases?
I don’t think the VC money does much but accelerate the end state, the apps would become addictive if they were held privately their entire lifespan.
